What batteries do these need? I am interested in the blower and trimmer but Lowes doesn't link to any of the batteries? It just makes me assume they cost more than the products themselves? lol

Can one battery fit both products? Is the charger sold separately from the battery also? lol
Kobalt has an ever growing 24v battery system tool package. These take that 24v battery. If you're looking to get into the tools and need these, might be good to start on one of these sales. I've had kobalt 24v set since December 2019 and has never failed me, even my original batteries work great.

That being said, the tools in this OP do not come with batteries. However, there is a deal running all summer for 2 batteries (4Ah and 2Ah) plus charger for $150 plus a free tool, which you can select. You'd have to deselect the angle grinder for your gift and select from 1 of 15 or 20ish options. I'd recommend getting an 1/4 impact driver if don't have any cordless tool. So for 150 you get a tool and 2 batteries and charger.

Now for 50 dollars you could add a tool each from here and get your system going. As you see kobalt always has sale on tools and batteries, it's the best system price to power for home diyers.

Battery deal linked below.

Heads up, this trimmer is not the 1024B-03 which has the attachment swap out system "universal connect", which that one is $150 and each attachment is anywhere from $80 to 150ish. I wanted that system but the prices can't be justified when this basic one is so cheap and looks so small and light.

Also I disagree with the person saying you need to stick with 1 battery line/company.

I started with kobalt, now have ryobi due to friend gifting me battery, charger and shop vac, and I already had bought a ryobi buffer prior to that. Now I have few specialty ryobi tools and mostly kobalt tools, and it's aaaaalll good.

These are based on kobalt 24V platform and the batteries work on any of the tools in that system. I've been using several tools from the system and for the DIY homeowner, they're more than sufficient. If you're planning on doing a lot more work, large projects, then I'd look into the higher volt systems.

Very well said. It's an interesting space that the 24v line is trying to conquer- small weekend DIY homeowners. The battery are compatible between their power tools and outdoor tools. As stated, investing in the 24v line and then adding these additional tools for cheap along the way. I wouldn't go out of my way to get these deals without the battery.

love their tools, but wish the batteries were on sale instead. I could use another trimmer battery but it's crazy that the battery costs more than the trimmer itself. Mine lasts ~45 minutes before a recharge is needed, but luckily it only takes 1 hour to charge
Our Worx 32v trimmer died a few months ago, and I had to go on the hunt for a replacement. Lots of 20v and heavy (my wife does the trimming) 40v to be found but even places like Harbor Freight charges a big chunk of change for the battery, also following the "Tool Only" packaging that so many places are doing, like Lowes above.

Shopping primarily on weight as the most important factor, followed by power, we ended up with a Black and Decker Open Box - Like New from AMZ for ~$84, including a 2AH battery and a slow charger. What also pushed me in this direction is that I could buy generic B&D batteries for $35-40 and a fast charger for $13 (likewise, Open Box).

I just couldn't justify what other manf/retailers were charging to be able to trim around trees and such.

I had some Kobalt 40v items, bought when I moved into my house. They did not have a good life. I personally will not buy Kobalt again. YMMV

Just light use on the weed wacker, hopefully it holds up. may just pay the 209 for the 16in ego chainsaw then.

The weed wacker is great, but just be sure you won't need anything else like an edger down the road. I wasn't aware that Kobalt made a version with interchangeable heads and I wish I would have bought that instead.

Forgive me, I now opened my eyes to read the description. It is indeed brushless.

The 8 inch pole saw with 2ah battery is on sale as well.

https://www.lowes.com/pd/Kobalt-2...5000110503

In the real world, 8 inches can't do the same job as 12 inches. I just don't know how that would translate to electric chainsaws. I'm wondering if I buy the pole saw if I would really need the regular saw.

My B&D 12" 20V trimmer I've used for at least 5 years finally died. Never any problem with it, and the auto line feed worked like a champ. I was tempted to replace it with this Kobalt one, but the reviews were less than stellar, particularly about the bump feed and threading new line. Plus the whole different battery family thing.

B&D 20V batteries are also essentially the same as Porter-Cable 20V batteries too, with an easy-to-do minor mod. Folks here routinely diss B&D, but they pioneered the whole cordless yard tool/shop tool thing. I suspect some of this harkens back to the NiCad battery era, which admittedly had various lousy B&D products…

I have no Kobalt batteries. Wouldn't this be a better choice for me?
https://www.lowes.com/pd/Kobalt-2...1000698090
And maybe add this:
https://www.lowes.com/pd/Kobalt-2...1001143168

Or else should I get a factory blemished Ryobi set from DTO?
ie. https://www.directtoolsoutlet.com...RY40940VNM
It's been $164 shipped recently.

There is a blower / trimmer / battery kit for $149. Does anyone have experience with returning one of the tools? I only want the blower. Yes there are a blower / battery kits for $100 and $119 but I'm curious if returning the trimmer would get the better blower and battery to $100.
I bought the set. When the trimmer broke, I had to return the whole set.
