There are real quality differences, even between lines of the same brand. We tried using an economy version of Cascade and it clogged our dishwasher's plumbing. We had to disassemble it and clean out the hoses by hand before it would start working again. At the opposite end of the spectrum, their best stuff, Platinum, works great in the same dishwasher. If there can be such large differences in the same brand, I would expect similar differences across different brands. My current favorite is Finish Quantum.

I don't know why people buy pods, let alone powder in pods. It cost about .10 per pod is too much for me. I buy the 25oz dishwashing powder from Dollar tree for $1.25 and put all the powder in a plastic container with a measuring spoon to use. Link here.

This also had the prime savings for additional 20% off if you spent $50. Getting 7 on s&s brought the price to approx $6 each.

tbh, when I had an old dish washer that was the case for me too, when I upgraded (bought cheapest modern one) they all work the same for me. I can't tell a cheap pod from an expensive one.
my dishwasher is 23 years old (and economy model at the time) so that could very well be the case

Yeah this isn't true.

Aside from brand quality differences, the pods are several things in one (rinse agent, regular cleaning agent, degreaser, etc.) You can achieve similar results by adding all of those separately, on your own, in a non-pod form, but you won't achieve the same results without them.

Qualitatively, on their own, pods perform the best by a huge margin, and then after that there are the liquid detergents, and then the powder ones.

Brand wise, I've used a lot of them and in different forms. Cascade is the best, though it's pricey. These amazon ones are about ~50% of the performance (though it's apples to oranges), which can be ok depending on how large your loads are, how good your dishwasher is, do you pre-rinse and scrub, etc.

If you're running heavier loads with harder stains and/or a not so great dishwasher, the Cascade pods are a better buy, as I found that even with two of these, they still struggled, especially with the top rack. One Cascade pod was about 90% as good as two, and two pods mostly ensures that there won't be any stains leftover after. Having to re-run loads and use up capacity because the detergent didn't manage to clean off everything sucks.

I looked because I know the price has gone up on the Kirkland Signature pods. I think they were $11.99 for 115 the last time I purchased.

They are all the same. You can save even more by buying the cheapest dishwasher detergent in powder form and help the planet (less plastic) and wash cleaner (takes advantage of your dishwasher's prewash cycle).

I have been using this for years:

That pack of 6 lasts us around 3 years.

$17 for 92 of the BJ's equivalent. Costco doesn't offer instore prices on line or in the app.

Yes, the $11.99 Costco price was in-store.

I'm assuming BJ's and Costco are going to be comparable.

I think this is for dishwashers, not washing machine. You might need Tide or Gain or something like that.

Just messin' with you. I know what you mean. LMAO

I have used Case Platinum for a years. I read a review in Consumer Reports a few months ago which said that the Sam's Club Member's Mark Ultimate Clean Automatic Dishwasher Pacs were the best detergent they've ever tested, and they are about 10 cents a pack. I've personally found that they are indeed both better and cheaper than the Cascade Platinum, pods. If you're a Sam's Club member and use pods, then this is the way to go.

You have to love that some people are "flexing" their dishwasher on SD.

Switched back to powder, it cleans so much better than these overpriced dishwasher pacs.

Detergent packs are kinda wishy-washy (Dishwashers Explained)

You're using too much detergent.
