$100 off plus additional $100 off with Code AWOLED10. Lowest price so far for a new unit. Not necessarily a slick deal, but if you've been waiting for a lower than usual price on a monitor with a 3-year burn in warranty, this might be the time. I finally bought this today after tracking the price for a long while. Be advised there is a posted rumor that 2nd gen OLED gaming monitors are right around the corner with increased brightness and increased burn in protection. I decided not to wait but FYI.

I own this, bought it on the last sale. It's a very nice monitor, but it has one serious drawback! If you use it for longer than 6 hours, you have to run the pixel refresher to make sure it doesn't develop any image retention / burn in.

This only sucks because I use it when I work from home for 8 hours or more a day and it is frustrating to have to run the refresher in the middle of my shift.
The 38 inch is LCD, while the 34 inch in this thread is OLED.

I'd highly discourage anyone getting an OLED monitor for office work. The drawback of "burn-in" basically disqualifies it.

Also, you really need to understand what pixel refresher is doing. Because certain pixels are used more by static elements, they get dimmer (or die) quicker. Running pixel refresher dims your other pixels to match those dimmer ones to address brightness uniformity or "burn-in".

Even then burn-in shouldn't be that noticeable day to day. Rtings and Hardware Unboxed have both tested and reviewed OLED after some significant use and it's not over the course of one day. I'd say your mind is playing tricks on you.

Other than that this is the lowest price I've seen it
A lot of the burn in risk in windows could be reduced if Microsoft made some strightforward updates to provide pixel shifting of the screen and individual windows and diming, maybe by windows 15....

I'm aware of what it's doing, I also know it can have an effect on the longevity of the screen. It would have been better to do some of the things LG did, like pixel shifting, as that would have prevented the need for such an extremely solution to be run daily.

Honestly, I have 3 OLED TVs in my house, all of them LG, and this monitor. Rtings noted the newer Samsung technology was much more prone to burn in and there are refurbished units sold already, some no doubt due to image retention.

Now as for this screen, it isn't my mind, they have a panel health indicator that goes from Green to Yellow to Red, to indicate the health of the panel and if the refresher should be run. After several attempts to dismiss it, you're no longer given the option and it is all based around the panel health. My LG's only pop up panel health indicators after months of use and we watch several hours of TV a night on them.

Personally, I don't worry about burn in with OLED anymore and the screen works great for business use, but it is very clear that Samsung wasn't being honest regarding this technology when they told the entire world it would be more resistant to it than LG's technology.

Damn if I stack everything I can get this for $600 but I already have the 38" and don't think I can go down in size.

The 38" is a completely different monitor. It's not an OLED.
from rtings.com. Text clarity issue on the 34"

"The Dell AW3423DW is excellent overall. It's excellent for gaming because it has a high refresh rate with variable refresh rate support, a near-instantaneous response time, and low input lag. It's also fantastic for dark room gaming or for watching movies in the dark, thanks to the near-infinite contrast ratio and perfect black uniformity. It's good for office use and fantastic for content creators thanks to the large screen, but it has some issues with its text clarity, and it doesn't perform as well in bright rooms because reflections raise the black levels."

This post made me check the 38 IPS version (AW3821DW), and I pulled the trigger on that one at the same price. 12% CB and $120 off with my AMEX offer. I didn't get this 34 because it is OLED and my usage would be 80% work (lots of static applications) and 20% gaming and media. I also thought I will benefit from the bigger screen.

I have been using 38 inch version for about a year, no regrets other than it doesn't have a USB PD to charge my laptop. Not a big issue but still for a 900 monitor, you should get a PD builtin.

this price and not even G-sync...I think AW is trying to suck as much of your money it can....way overpriced....shit you and get a 55" Oled C2 for this price

The Samsung might be great for gaming, but the text clarity is terrible. No good for productivity. I bought and returned.

Amazing for xbox! I still get crushed at COD, but at least .1 response time gave me an edge. My k/d was .68 now it is .69 Wink

I had it for a bit and ran into the same problem. It doesn't do well as double-duty. Games looked great, but productivity was unpleasant. I also found the pixel-shift distracting as it keeps moving the screen by a pixel or two fairly regularly. I returned to my older AW3418, the IPS model.

I found it also had some G-Sync mishandling where it would flicker when FPS wasn't sufficiently stable. Perhaps it's an issue of panel speed, I don't know, but it's not a problem with my IPS G-Sync monitors. I did really enjoy gaming on it when G-Sync wasn't misbehaving.

Unfortunately, the inconsistent experience in gaming and sub-optimal productivity, I went back to my AW3418. Hoping the next iteration of these irons out those kinks.

EDIT: Just realized, this is the F version. So I don't know how G-Sync does here. I'll just echo the productivity comment

I'm waiting for the 2nd generation of these with glossy screens even though my studio is in the basement and I keep the lights out. My bigger concern is what am I going to do with my existing two monitors, a nice 27" 1440p 144Hz G-Sync and an older 24" Dell UltraSharp 1200p. Mounting them above it would require craning my neck and that seems ehn.
