These have been a life saver during Texas summers, I like it a bit cold during the night and this thing helps me cool just my room without cooling up the whole house.

If you HAVE COSTCO, GO TO COSTCO.

The box is very thin and poorly padded. My unit did not survive shipping. busted, leaked compressor oil from inside.

Returned to costco, bought instore for $320.

Works great, super quiet.

The compressor doesn't shake loudly in these units, but the external fan will shake the unit when it revs up initially from stop, that fan stays on, so you'll almost never hear it shake again..
Got mine from Costco in store too - but the compressor actually shakes quite a bit - it's quite audible when it throttles up to a certain speed (particularly around 350W consumption, which is on the mid/upper end of its range).. fortunately it doesn't seem to need that range very often so far and the "low rumble" isn't always present (sounds like my neighbor's car idling outside).

Overall though it's doing pretty well cooling my whole top level. It can modulate itself all the way down to about 90W, and I've only ever seen it up to about 600W. So far over ~3 days of use it has only consumed about the same amount of power my central air system would use in 1-2 hours.

Are you sure it's the compressor Caleo, I had my hand on the compressor, and it's barely vibrating. Whereas the outside fan will shake during ramp up.

I haven't had a hot enough day for it to go above 500watt yet. I'll check in the future.

mine developed a loud sound. Sadly everything else works, but it's out of warranty. It's heavy and hard to install, so I won't recommend it due to failing between two years.

Absolutely. I can see the tubing coming off of it visibly shake, too.

i do hope it lasts 5 years. i installed mine so far as a test fit. have some insulation on the way. the fan is really strong, gets the air blowing long distance. I do hear a bit of high pitched whine when the AC turns on. I wish when in pure fan mode, the lowest fan can be lower. On the first hour of usage, I heard a bit of a something loose, like a repeated rattle.... After I decided to shut it down and turn it back on, it was gone and has not re-appeared even today. not that I'm looking forward to it but now i need a few hot nights to turn on this new AC. It does seem pretty quiet... I dealt with noisy 5000 BTU small ACs the past two years.

After using it this summer, it did really well. Slep tgood this summer, was not awoken by the AC noise like I had been the prior two years with my older 6000BTU traditional unit that was so noisy.

Sadly, removing this Media unit from the window... didn't see there was a ton of water inside. I put it back out the window and tilted it outward, drained out for like 5min....

Pulled it back in, and there was still water dripping all over the floors. i mean, i had not used aC in 6 weeks, and it rained, a week ago.... all that water never evaporated, geez.

another thing is, this unit is damn heavy. listed at I think 70 lbs... the metal frame is well... very heavy gauge metal.

i was not looking forward to buy into a heavier device than what it replaced. can't see myself removing it from the window and lugging it down into the basement every damn 6 months aand then reverse the process in 6 months.
