I'm forgot to mention this to customer service when seeting mine up.
I also had other problems. 1. Wifi controller not connecting. 2. Door handle wouldn't disassemble.
Support was able to send me a replacement controller and replacement handle to remedy these issues. I wonder if they will do anything about the rust.

thank you. I experienced very similar issues too. One of the screws kept turning on the handle, so I couldn't disassemble. I also can't seem to connect to WiFi. I've emailed Camp Chef nearly two weeks ago, but they have been completely unresponsive. Did you email / call / chat?

My problems were exactly like yours. That's can't be a coincidence. However I was able to connect the Wi-Fi but the controller wanted to do a firmware update which it was never able to.
I contacted them by email phone and left a voicemail. They never responded by voicemail. So I called and left a voicemail. And they eventually called me back after 2 days or three. From the voicemail.
I went through a few minutes of troubleshooting. And the person on the phone with me quickly got my address to send me a new controller and handle assembly. Which I just received today and installed.
