90 watts is adequate for 99% of home theaters. People greatly exaggerate the amount of power necessary.

Agree, will jump if it has LR pre out...
Onkyo doesn't either. Very annoying that a basic feature is left out of nearly every AVR now.

Oh ok, that's probably why you've not run into it. Whenever I try and play files via USB that stupid BCO update error bricks the AVR until I do a full factory reset which gets very old. I put up with the buggy mess though because she sounds and looks so pretty. I've even got mine attached to a Thenaudio Sharc so that I can use it with my 4K TV. I'm always chomping at the bit when I see one of these AVR sales pop up though. My life would be so much easier with a new AVR but at the end of the day it's the sound quality that matters the most.
Did you manage to update the FW to latest?

Right there with you. We're upgrading for the hdmi and better app control. I complain about the new prices and people say well it's an enthusiast product now. But then they strip all the features out for the enthusiasts. I wish I would have just done Sonos instead of putting in ceiling speakers.

Anyways after all that, I just picked one up. Also picked up the 760H from Costco for $400 yesterday before this deal was posted. Going to mess with them side by side. Other than the power difference, I need to see if one handles zone b patio speakers better.

I believe both of these models are discontinued. I was waiting on a X1800H but they never released one.

Nope, I attempted it via USB once and it failed so I didn't press my luck given all of the horror stories online. None of the improvements listed for that update would even benefit me (assuming the list on HK's website is a complete one). I'd sure love to be able to play mp3 files via USB without bricking the unit though 😑

Had to pull the trigger on this one. Deal too good to pass up, plus I've been recently looking to get the 760H. Comparatively speaking, it makes sense to get this over that one. So I did, as it's time to replace my ten year old receiver. I consider this one of, at least, two retirement presents to myself.

One of the reviews states no pre amp outs.... I can't get a non blurry zoom on the rear image
Hover over the image on the product page (without clicking anything). A zoomed version of the image should automatically appear. (do not open individual images: these won't zoom in that much).

Edit: fantastic deal. But I need to get a new TV first (so that receiver is within return period when I connect it to the TV, or some receivers have trouble with hi-def signals when connected to certain devices so the only way to know is to buy TV first).

Is 90w per channel adequate? My speakers are 6w (OMD15 + OMD5) so this will be more like 120w. My old yamaha is 90w as well only because I got the cheapest I could find. This time I figured have to get the "proper" one, maybe with more wattage, but I suspect 90w is still OK.

Any suggestions on speakers and a sub that pair well with this system?
If you have no preference, the same company has a deal on a whole setup.
