I was afraid of failure too. Turns out that it affect certain serial numbers only. Had mine since January (paid $130 plus tax). It is going great in my Lenovo 7i Pro 14". Luckily, the drive is backward compatible since my laptop have gen 3 NMVE slot.

The firmware that was causing trouble (3B2QGXA7) was on drives made in 2021. We're almost half way through 2023 now.
I would not worry about the firmware issue anymore, lots of scare mongering going on here.

I can confirm they ship with latest firmware. Well at least the one I bought did.
