Buying from Samsung charges tax on the full price of the device. Picking up from BB B&M only charged tax on the $250. YMMV but worth a try.

No free memory upgrade to 512gb. With regular offer at 512GB free upgrade, it is $427 with education discount comparing to $449, hence not good deal for 512GB version. But good deal for 256GB.
The biggest upgrade is the 8gen2. I own both s22u and s23u, the s22u is constantly a hot potato while s23u is at most warm under heavy load. Other than the processor, the battery life is a huge improvement. At $200 difference probally it makes sense to upgrade but not over that.
They ship you your new phone with packing material. Some soft sheeting and a lot of cardboard that is long, shredded like a pair of 80s jeans, rolled up on the new phone. A fedex return label will be inside. You will need to tape it to the outside of the box, on top of the original label (or remove the original label and apply new one).

Get your new phone up and running first. Look for any issues for a week.

Do a factory reset on your old phone. take a picture of the screen with your new phone to show no issues of front and back while on. In case Samsung employee tries to pull a fast one on you.

Turn your old phone off and wrap it up. You can dop off at any Fedex drop off location or find a Dollar General store. They will scan the package and send a receipt notice via text to your phone. Samsung will receive a couple business days later and let you know they receive. Few more days until they get a chance to review and ok the trade-in.

No because when I got mine it wouldn't work properly on the website so had to get refunded the 100 to make it 149.99

Did you just do pickup in bestbuy and the tax adjusted after you picked it up or something? Also do you trade it in to best buy or do you still have to send it to samsung?
The price I think adjusts even on samsung.com before you submit your order. Trade in as usual using the Samsung label and ship to them. Only caveat was when picking it up the lady gave me a taped box with open box sticker on it. I refused to take the phone and she called a manager. The manager showed up and directly told her just give him the new one. So be careful if you do BB pick up because they tried to pull a fast one on me and give me a used phone.

Same old shenanigans from Samsung. Got excited for a second when i saw the new $1000 trade in price for my S22 Ultra for the new Galaxy Fold5/ Flip5. As soon as I got to the checkout page my $270 edu discount magically lowered itself to $120 instead...

Yeah my cart kept kicking errors trying to checkout on an S23 Ultra when the trade on my Note 20 was at $600. Now that they've dropped the trade value in it magically works. Passed.

The edu discount will always lower itself because its a percent off the net amount after trade in. Not saying I agree with it, but thats how Samsung always has worked

Yep. Same boat here. Dropped to $350, now it is $450. I guess it will never go back, so still placed the order. A bit frustrated through.

It's a percentage. Do you not know how a percentage works. The discount is based off of your total. With a trade in your total price drops. Thus the discount decreases. Not typical Samsung -- you just have to understand simple math.

You believe a sales rep over a trusted Slickdeals colleague, lol. Last year there were amazing f'kn phone deals late fall, early winter. Best Buy had insane trade ins.

So because it was last year this was for a new s22 variant and the s21 was the previous year model , so trading in an s21 for an s22 then was like trading in an s22 for an s23 now

I know we are talking about N20U but I still think deals will still roll in this year, its all marketing - though yeah, this is probably the year to get rid of the n20u for a decent TIV

Here is one example thread (and yes they were good towards s22s too, not just Fold)
https://slickdeals.net/f/15969637-best-buy-save-up-to-900-on-unlocked-galaxy-z-series-with-qualifying-in-store-trade-in-99-99?src=SiteSearch

Crap, I just looked at the start date of that thread and it was August 10, 2022...... so we may see some good deals soon if history repeats itself - I think I did my deal late fall

Hopefully.

Note 20 Ultra has a trade in value of $600 for a lone while, then it dropped to $300 about 10 days ago, and now increases to $450. After thinking twice, I pulled the trigger and still did the trade in for S23U. It seems like other Samsung phones have "normal to good" trade-in values. For example, S22+ used to have a lower trade-in value, but now it is worth $600 for S23U. I feel like such a value drop happens to Note 20 Ultra only Frown. It is a good phone but has been a while.

If either Samsung or BB offers more generous trade-in values in early August, I guess i could just return and restart it.

I have s22+ and was thinking of trading , but not really in mood to backup and setup phone again - will wait longer

Looks like the reduced price for the T-Mobile variant is gone. Was deliberating upgrading for $150 but I guess will have to see if the awesome deals from BB last year come back

I traded in my fold 4 to get the s23 ultra at $249. I was not a fan of the fold 4, i like the camera, battery life, s pen of the ultra, in a traditional phone better.
