Apple MacBook Pro 16" Laptop (Late 2021): M1 Pro, 32GB RAM, 512GB SSD (Space Gray) Expired

I just received mine today. MacOS 12.3 installed, Battery 0%. Looks like a dead stock.

Does it hold a charge? Will it turn on?

Yes. However I'm a little worried about the battery capacity if it has been at low battery % for a long time.

I wanna order one but I'm worried too now. Updates from you would help.

I wonder if Apple care covers that.

You should be fine, you have 12 months to find out if the battery has any problem.

If you need the device this is a good buy. If you can wait until M3 release (whenever that is) then wait and wait for them to release M3 Pro with 16gb. The sales of PC have declined this why we are seeing massive discounts for different models. The new 15" MacBook Air has been released and it already getting $100 discount of the MSRP. I can see the price of this model go lower if the product is refurbished but if it is brand new then I don't expect it to good any lower than this maybe by $50 of the vendor wish to but for now this is the best price for this product. This is a massive discount for this product and if you buy this you most definitely won't need a device for another 2 years for sure (again I could be wrong about how long this device feels fast for you depending on the workload you throw at this machine.) For M3 and the future, I can't recommend that you hold off or wait, this entirely up to you. You also want to think about if Apple does release the M3 w/ 16gb are you going to buy it soon as it is released at FULL MSRP or are then going to wait couple of months and wait for $150 or $200 discount after couple of months. We also can't predict what the ports on the machine will be what if Apple still decides to release the M3 with HDMI 2.0 (This would be a really shitty move from Apple). By the time the M3 / M3 Pro is released this product M1 pro w/ 32gb 512gb might just sell for this price but with 1tb storage.

Again, this is all just speculation, I would recommend that you do assessment of your own requirement about what you want the device to do for you and what kind of workload you want the device to be capable of running for you.
I must point out that the difference in performance between M1 Pro and M2 Pro is not that astronomical compared to switching from Intel core processor to M1 or M2. If you currently have intel based Mac Or PC then switching to this machine is a good move for this price point. If you want to wait for M3 that is acceptable since you are making the jump from intel base CPU to Apple silicon. Jump from M1 to M3 would be a notable upgrade, from M2 to M3 not so much.
Intel CPU (from previous mac device) to M3, astronomical improvement.

Please note when I say intel CPU, I mean those that are inside the old Mac machine.

Again do your assessment on the application you currently use (Windows/Linux Users) and see if those application are available for Mac OS.
If you still wish to move to Mac Eco-system and wish to run, your WIndows/Linux Apps in VM-Ware then I do recommend you buy a Mac Model with 32gb RAM and higher storage. (External Storage prices for M.2/SSD have dropped drastically in the past months.)

If your an individual who works with just Word, Excel or heavy browser user (opening 20+ tabs) this is a good device to buy. And if you going to run the same type of workload on M3 / M3 pro machine w/ 16gb I personally would recommend this machine over the M3 / M3 pro w/ 16gb of RAM.
The processor and 32gb ram on this machine are sufficient for more than 2 years for the heavy browser user type with few other applications running simultaneously.

The older m1

I purchase this one and got it delivered to me couple of days ago. There is a horizontal line on the screen about an inch and half from the bottom of the screen. It seems like a quiet a common problem with the 16in M1 macbooks. Has anyone had experience dealing with Adorama support for such issues? When I go to Apple warranty site, it says purchase date couldn't be established.

Looking for advice:

I found local Costco selling new 14 inch 16gb, 512gb m1 MacBook pro for $1199 and 16 inch m2 MacBook pro with same config for $1799.

Is it worth going spending additional $600+ for bigger screen size and new m2 processor? Is it a substantial advantage of m2 over m1?

Usage is for a fresh engineering graduate in data and multimedia. Would prefer to use laptop for 5-7 years at least.
