with any gas equipment that is going to sit for a while shut the fuel line off and let it run dry and stop.

Ability to run on propane(dual fuel) means the carb/jets don't get plugged if you leave gas in it . If your are awesome at draining fuel from the carb and tank every-time you store it any length of time, then the gas only version would be fine for you. If you are using with an rv, having the duel fuel option to plug into your propane system and not have to carry gasoline along is an added benefit. Propane doesn't put out as high of watts on the same generator as gasoline. Options are nice, but if you need one this is a good price.

From personal experience, I bought several dual fuel generators because i liked the concept. They are nice in the fact that they can be stored without any preparation and have always fired up when I pull them out, and the propane can be stored indefinitely. With that said, I have since sold them all. Propane is not convenient. It doesn't produce as much power, and requires toting tanks and regulator hoses. If you RV, you're going to have to carry a separate generator propane tank or wipe out your on-board propane which is not convenient. I now have 3 non-dual fuel generators. If you run ethanol free and some stabilizer, they will be plenty reliable when you need them.

If you buy enough propane cylinders to fulfill your expected needs. One 20lb tank is said to last 21 hours with the generator at only 25% load. That means one tank only lasts just over 5 hours at full load.

If I had a house that had a large outdoor propane tank like for home heating then I'd be way more interested in a propane generator..

I'm seeing $696, for duel fuel 200988. what's your choice? only propane I have on hand regularly is 2 small tanks for fake fire put and weber grill. thanks for any help

Why didn't you just run them on gas then? Lol at least you would still have the option to use propane if needed, ex: camping in remote location and low on fuel, or major storm takes out power and fuel is scarce but you have a propane canister from grill or stored in the garage for said emergency etc

i didn't think so. i had a few but ditched them, (and my house runs on lp but the tank isn't huge so i don't like to use that for shtf hurricane outages) . easier for me to store wavian cans, and after hurricane season i have mowing, etc. Reason is this
1) lp company won't fill small grill type tanks nor even large one
2) large is pain in rear to haul for refilling
3) small grill size tanks take up a !@ ton of space and are odd to store. steel nato cans you can in one deck box have a ton of fuel though i store my cans in my garage, i never liked having the lp tanks in there, and don't like gas in plastic.

I just pull mine out of the garage every few months and run for about 30min then let them auto drain the carb. and under no circumstances use anything but ethonol free. during ian i used i dunoo 3 days only few gallons but my house runs off lp so no big energy users for electric.

This is a great price on an inverter, I have a similiar unit with electric and remote start-no dual fuel, paid 700 last year, and have been very happy with it. No hurricanes yet but I start it once a month and run for 15 mins. My neighbor bought one too.

Gas puts out more power; gas is easier to find after a hurricane than propane. Put stabilizer in the gas and you are good for up to 24 months but run it once a month and no worries.

Propane is great for convenience and is ideal in certain situations.

If you are in need of an inverter, buy it. The electric start is nice and I have a remote too, Im old school and do the pull start sometimes, first pull always works.

I updated my fleet with better ones. Sold them all at or above what I paid. One was a 10k that output 240. A tank of propane lasted a couple hours or the gas tank was something like 6 gallons with the same results. Ot very good for home backup. I picked up an inverter that can output 240 and runs 13hrs on around 4 gallons. Also had suitcase gens that were low output. Replaced with two Westinghouse 2500s, which put out more power and they also has 20A outlets.

When your wife starts asking where you keep pulling generators from around the house, you know it's time to thin the herd. Went from 6 to 3. Main point of my post is IMHO, the added expense of a dual fuel gen is not worth the hassle. If maintained properly, gas will be just fine and a lot more convenient to operate.

Anyone use this for emergency/power outage backup power for their home? Have a 2000w gas inverter which obviously provides me with no headroom when I run a single AC wall unit and some other basic electronics like modem/tv/lights. Wonder if I should get this to also be able to run some more like fridge/freezer and microwave for instance.
