Adding for the brick fan. I was disappointed with this tbh. It just was a miss for me as far as detail and color palette options go.
Sometime After this attempt my wife found a non lego website called https://brick.me. They use non lego brand bricks but the resolution and color pallet is drastically better and was big hit for me. I will add it is in no way apples to apples as far as cost or for the lego purist since they don't use actual lego bricks.
But I was absolutely disappointed with the Lego version and never regretted the alternative.
This came up last time this deal was posted, but the resolution on the portrait is quite low and the box is misleading. You can see a real example in the reviews: https://www.lego.com/en-us/produc...-1182088-1
Mr. Stark? I don't feel so good…

Nothing beats LEGO, quality, value-held and durability wise. You're not going to sell a Lepin (Chinese knockoff of LEGO) for the same price in 10 years, or give it to your children for the same reasons. But speaking about this set. It works well with the appropriate picture. One has to play with the contrast and size to make it work, but due to the scale it is not going to be detailed.
This is more an exercise in art for a silhouette, that if well planned can be framed and enjoyed, but think CGA graphics rather than HD.

Brick me looks fabulous but seems to be three times the cost wo shipping. Beautiful end results though (from pics).
The mosaic resolution is 48x48, 5-color, yellow tint monochrome. You can try converting photos on the Lego site after creating a free account. https://www.lego.com/en-us/mosaic-maker
