this is a 240v generator and yes it will do your house.

Any generator over 4500 watts is over kill unless you have a pump supplying your water. 4500 watts is fuel efficient and you can power two window units or floor air conditioners and a refrigerator and TV and lights. Don't count on having your corner gas station full of fuel. I've driven 150 miles and long lines round trip for fuel and you don't want to take those trips every two to three days. Make a bedroom into a Bunker with your comforts and hunker down.
This advice comes from a 55 year native Floridian. Almost forgot buy yourself a Co2 carbon monoxide battery powered detector for your sleeping quarters. I dont care if your running generator is a mile away do not leave the store without. C02 monitor.

oh yes! about a $500 savings! so tempted! this is going FP so hold on to your junk! grrrrrrrrrrrr

got out the 4500 and she started right up. plugged in the portable A/C. major heatwave today. its just outside a big picture window and you can barely hear it inside so the 2 neighbor guys dont have anything to complain about!

verified that UPS dont like regular generators, kept clicking over to battery. didnt think that it would so tried an older APC 800 just in case it smoked it. wouldnt plug in any expensive electronics like big tv or receiver. use a good surge protector for everything else.

Champion just came out with one. I have the gasoline model with the same layout and engine and it's great. People have modded it to support propane/ng but good to see them making a stock tri with the same features.

they look pretty comparable watts vs. cost. while costo has the so-called golden return policy yet firman customer service is so-so. if i had to make a choice i would go with the champion

Just pulled the trigger on this. I live in tornado alley. Had one go through on April 19th and our power was out for 5 days. Luckily my employer had a generator I could borrow but it was gasoline only. Closest place I could buy gas was 15 miles away due to the widespread damage. Thank you op from myself. My bank account isn't thrilled with you though. 😉

Would love to get thi, but champion stopped making their generators in low THD versions when they quit selling at Costco. I'm sure the power quality in this is horrible.

this is why im content with my $250 4500 for right now. in worst case power outage, more than a day, just need it for a couple of lights and a heater or portable A/C for comfort.

i see it on this picture and its a 4-pin round plug, but i dont see it in any of the description, only 120v.

its definitely a 240 30A 4-pin outlet as in the pictured reviews a guy had his 210A MIG welder plugged into that outlet.

Weird it's only 30A. The Firman mentioned earlier (which I have) has a 50A outlet.... How does 30A even work for something that claims 8000W continuous? 8000W / 30A = 266V......

hum, im curious too. i find it very interesting they dont mention it anywhere in the descriptions and only show it in the pictures on the unit itself.
