Mine arrived! Performance-wise (CPU), I agree. But the Moto G Stylus 5G has twice the storage of my Samsung flagship phone, and side by side, the Moto looks HUGE by comparison to the Samsung. (In terms of screen real-estate, it's nearly as large my beloved 2nd gen Nexus 7 tablet, but it's more compact due to the thinner bezels.) So the Moto has significant advantages over the old flagship phones.

otoh, the Moto doesn't have a brilliant OLED QHD+ display... but it's unlikely you can get that kind of display on a new phone for even 4x the cost of this deal.

In terms of style/appearance, I dare say the Moto is rather handsome, if such a word could be used to describe a phone. I wouldn't be embarrassed to take it anywhere or be seen holding it, even though it sports a plastic back rather than a glass or metal one. Anyway, it's going into a case tomorrow, so no one is gonna see its back. What they might see instead is the gorgeous black and deep blue startup screen, which is quite striking.

In the spot where they ask you if you want to keep/use your number did you click that or go with the other to get a new number? I clicked I wanted to keep my number but I'm now worried that was wrong and it will do something to deactivate it from AT&T. I'm just going to unlock and use with my existing AT&T sim. I'm new to this and not sure how the number game works.

Thanks for any help from all.
Yeah.... if you want to use the phone with AT&T, you probably don't want to click "keep my number" when ordering from Boost, because to Boost, it means that you want to transfer your AT&T phone number to Boost and they'll make arrangements with AT&T to make that happen.

Since you don't want this to happen, I'd recommend that you call Boost ASAP and explain that you made a mistake and want a new number instead.

Edge+ 2022 for $49.99 or $99.99 seems like a better deal ?

"And the savings don't stop there, the motorola edge+ 2022 is also available for new Boost Mobile customers starting at only $49.99

Existing Boost Mobile customers aren't left out of the savings. They can upgrade to the 2023 and 2022 motorola edge+ devices for $249.99 and $99.99, respectively.."

Thanks again! You're right, I'll buy an unlocked phone instead. It's $169 on Amazon but worth not have to deal with the hassle.
Hmmm.... My complaint about the way Boost handled this may have muddled the issue, and I apologize if that is the case.

IF you're planning to use the phone on another carrier anyway, I don't understand why Boost's auto-activation policy would cause you to avoid this deal and purchase an unlocked phone for 3.4x more instead. The activation just affects how many days get used up in the first month, but you're not planning to use any of them anyway, right? Smilie

When ordering from Boost, the choices are getting a new number or keep old number. Should you choose getting a new number, Boost will ship the sim and phone pre-activated meaning you will lose service days when the item is in transit. So for people who want to get a full month of service, they will select keep old number but then go through setup for activation. During this setup, the user can choose either a new number or keep old number.

In order to transfer your At&t number to Boost, you would have to give Boost your At&t phone number, account number, and pin number. If you did that, then the process of number transfer has started. If you did not give that information to Boost, it would be impossible to have your number ported.

Even if you selected keep old number during the order process and chose not to activate the sim, Boost will likely activate the sim eventually. If you selected the keep number option at ordering and have no intention of activating the sim, it might be a good idea to keep monitoring the status of the sim in case it gets activated.

Also be aware that by default Boost enables autopay. Metro for instance has autopay disabled by default.

Activating the sim + disabling autopay is what I would suggest rather than just discarding the sim or trying to cancel the service.

Autopay status is seen in 2 places. One is on the boostmobile.com site. Other is in the Boost One app. Make sure both say disabled. If for some reason one or both cannot be set to disable, then you would need to login to the website and use the chat feature to talk to tech support. The rep will ask for your Boost phone number and pin. If you did not create a pin, they will instead ask for your phone's IMEI number and your ICCID (sim card) number.

Be aware that should you disable autopay and then decide to replace the payment method with a different card (like one with a low balance), Boost will re-enable autopay. Whenever there is a change in payment method, autopay will be re-enabled.

Apologize if I am missing this answer. I tried searching the thread.

Is there any reason NOT to use the 1 month of Boost service either before or after unlocking? Will it interfere with or undo the unlock? I don't care about the number change because I use GV for the number people see.

Thanks! Looks like there shouldn't be any of the issues that some had with other mobile companies.
