Good price. I got it in sunburst for $150 at previous sale. It's worth that. Setup was acceptable.

I got the natural colored one last week for $87 and it arrived a lemon. Defective. Contacted Monoprice and they quickly shipped a new one which hasn't arrived yet and issued a free return RMA. Good service assuming the new one will be ok... it's now discontinued: https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=610923

I got the $66 natural finish of this via a deal posted a weekish ago, although I really wanted this red one. Definitely worth the $70, and I would say worth the $128 or even $150. That said, I am skipping this since I already have the natural one, but if that hadn't worked out... based on my research I would jump on this one if I was in the market for a semihollow. I actually wasn't in the market when the $68 happened, but couldn't say no. Actually, at this price... this is also hard to say no territory, but I have too many guitars dang it. I didn't need another tele either, but that black one that was posted for $38... JFC.

The monoprice Telly is one of my favorite indios. Playing it now and am just dumbfounded that you can get a playable electric guitar for the price of a couple of sets of strings. Having an extra beater/loaner guitar is handy too. Cool

Hopefully the Orange will go on sale too. I'll pass on the Red, still a great deal.

I didn't buy this one, but a similar semi hollow body off guitarfetish clearance sale a few years back. The guitar arrived unplayable, but I took it over to my local shop and for $200 they did a full setup with the PLEK machine, for a laser accurate setup. Anyways, the guitar plays amazing, has the lowest action you can imagine. Most instruments like these are pretty good, they just need a professional setup. You'll be surprised at the results.

I got the sunburst on sale for $150 on a recent sale. Went on a limb since i wanted to try a semi-hollow again. I previously had an epiphone dot that i sold after about 6 months. Im really enjoying it. Neck is a slimmer d shape. Pickups sound good to me, not being a tone freak. Out the box, the set up wasnt awful and it was totally playable. No major finish issues. Tuners felt a bit loose but were likely fine. I replaced them with some cheaper Gotohs. The nut was plastic and it went a bit out of tune easily. The fret ends werent awful at all but i decided to give them a good filing and fret polish to get rid of a bit of scratchiness. Took it in for a set up with a new bone nut and now i love the way it plays. The finish on the neck isnt sticky to me and felt better than most epiphones i have played. For the money, if your willing to take the time to set it up and replace a couple bits, its truly a fun little guitar. No regrets at all for me. Plus the gig bag was actually decent. I do wish I had gotten whatever $87 deal some of the others on here are mentioning but Im having fun. Could be a fun platform to learn modding if you wanna toss some new pickups and electronics. I would def buy another Indio to see how some of the others are, like that little offset they have that goes on sale periodically. I wish i had this guitar as a kid when i was learning.

What were the issues? And, how would someone new to guitars ascertain such qa/qc issues? I have picked up a handful of these guitars over the last many deals; yet I have not done much beyond unpack them tbh and would not have any real idea of what to look out for so any insight would be awesome! tia Smilie

I wouldn't get too caught up on QC with cheap guitars like this BUT mine literally had damage and was cracked/smashed in down by the control knobs about the size of a half dollar and that even peeled up the poly coat from the damage a good bit. They basically put this in a gig bag (a nice inclusion actually but it's low quality with little padding) and then into the cardboard box and shipped it with nothing else in it. A piece of styrofoam was floating around so that must have been somewhere.

Dig it, I can appreciate what you're saying!

Sorry your packing person was on brain break, that type of damage is pointless and demoralizing for the shopping masses as so much is a crap shoot in today's crazy online world. Arriving intact has never had so many challengers and antagonists to crap piles while cranking up big ol fans for nonsense and shenanigans :/

Hey if you're anywhere near South Bay, SF - hit me up for a guitar (un-damaged!)

Aloha & Gratitude,

BMP Smilie

Adding a little bit to that.

I have ordered several guitars from Monoprice, including an HSS strat, one 66 V2, the semi-hollow and the telecaster from the deals last week.

Sometimes the boxes were in rough shape but, in my case, I didn't get any damage on the guitars (I'm quite picky about it). The only one I had to exchange was the HSS strat because it had some physical damage which seemed to have happened during shipping. I was quite surprised in some of them because the boxes seemed quite banged before opening them, but the guitars were fine inside.

It seems that nowadays shipping companies are just being more rough with their packages and Monoprice should change some of their box designs (as they seem to break open easily).

On the gig bag comment, I kind of disagree a little bit. It's a free gig bag and I have seen what other companies are sending with their guitars which are quite thin (more like a sleeve than a bag).
