With these they say it has a year of Kids+, then it's 4.99/mo, cancel anytime...

If you cancel early, let's say the day it arrives, does that disable the rest of the year of Kids+, or will it just cancel the renewal?

Amazon tables are very limited devices, even for kids. They are a pain to manage. You'll get a lot more value with an iPad or Galaxy Tab.
