Missed that these were even invented, Do they work well?
Yes, been around for awhile in other countries, space saving/energy saving. Same as a heat pump for your house instead of an AC. More efficient. The US consumer though is focused on size (compensating usually).

This is a "large" version for the US market.

I dont get what everyone is complaining about, if it doesnt work, send it back.

It's literally costco. It doesn't get any easier then that. I bought 2 to see if I can have double the units. Kids are messy so why not. If it works out, great, if not, reinstall the old units and send this puppy back to costco.

Life isn't hard folks....
Dude this is the best answer. People on SL complain and bemoan everything.

The two negatives I see is the price is crazy expensive. I get it it replaces the cost of two units and has the parts needed to not only wash but dry too so it should be double the price….. call me cheap but when this gets closer to a thousand then I would feel it as a good option.
Second this is version one. It's the version test/first one they put out in the market to get the feedback as to what works and doesn't. This is also like buying a Betamax in a VHS world. Sure it's better and cooler. But if it's not well received in the market and not supported or has flaws and needed changes….well… (I still really, really want this perhaps even two)

Yes, it appears I was wrong because it says something similar in the HD description of you scroll over on the photos. Don't think I would like this then. Get ready to have a very dusty home indeed. I mean, even with a really good filter of some sort, you're still going to release some laundry lint into the air. To block all small lint particals would mean blocking all exhaust airflow.
Guess you never traveled to Europe or Asia.

Need a new washer and dryer. Need an all in one or stackable. I'm nervous about this unit.

Is there an extended warranty option?

If this has a heat pump in it you should also check what the status of your state is in instating the Inflation Reduction Act home efficiency rebates is. You might be able to get an instant rebate on a heat pump clothes dryer. Not sure if it would include this combo unit though.

I recently purchased one of those machines from BestBuy a couple of days ago, but I have decided to return it and purchase it from Costco instead. Overall, I believe it is a great machine. In terms of drying time, it is just as fast as a regular dryer. However, there is an issue with the heat pump noise. It produces a noticeable buzzing noise that can be bothersome. If you plan to place the dryer in a location such as the kitchen or any other area within your apartment or house, the noise can be heard throughout. Although it is not excessively loud, it can be compared to the sound produced by a dehumidifier or a window AC unit without the fan noise, which I personally find to be slightly worse. The fan noise would mask the buzzing sound of the heat pump, but with this particular unit, there is only the sound of the heat pump, which is more pronounced. You could run it overnight since you don't have to worry about leaving your clothes wet.

On the Reddit solar forum there is a discussion about this very washer dryer combo unit. Those who own one of these had positive comments and would buy again. If their comments are accurate, think of this model as a 2nd generation of American heat pump washer dryer combo units.

Half the size, what are you looking at? This is about the size of a standard washer (4.8cu ft) so that point is moot. And as I said, I don't know how effective or effecient it is as there's not many user reviews on this yet but a couple of people here have posted saying that drying takes some time.
Just go away. I wrote load; obviously I'm talking about how big it can be for this kind of steam drying process. Since you don't know any better, stop objecting.

Missing the biggest advantage of these once installed: you don't have to swap loads. One button to wash AND dry. So yes, it takes forever per load, but you run it much more frequently bc it's super easy.
Had a competing model for a year in an apartment and it was great.
