I've got 3 Ego batteries all purchased between 2016 and 2018. All still work great. My Ego tools have been great.

Interesting how we are now living in an age where a proprietary battery for $145 that can only be used with one brand is a deal. Another example of the consumer being on the losing end.
I suppose I must be setting the bar too high for the consumer and manufactures to strike a better balance as it pertains to value and standards.

I didn't know there were upgraded 4.0 EGO batteries out there--had been ignoring all deals with these batteries since I thought they were old stock. Oops.

Some people have all the ego equipment they need. Solo battery deals are welcomed. The deal you're referring to is a 2.5AH battery?

I'll take a shot in the dark and guess that these are lower current rated than the previous 5ah and can't maintain the rated max wattage of the power station. Or it could be they got tired of people cycling these to failure before they were out of warranty and want you to use the larger batteries for that application.

I love Ego tools, but imo, if you are interested in a power station, I would get a dedicated one. I understand the draw of one battery for all applications, but these are expensive batteries per watt/hour and don't have the cycle life of the LIFEPO4 used in most solar stations at a similar price point. If you are interested in powering via solar is looks like you will also need an accessory that caps out at 180w??? That would be a long charge with any of the larger batteries
