There was a deal last month for a chainsaw + 4Ah battery for $160 (via Woot). If you're comparing both deals, you're effectively getting a chainsaw for $20 more. I'd wait for a tool + battery deal.

I have loved all my EGO products but I had one time I had to reach out to customer service, I had found a pretty bad design flaw in their EGO Nexus escape 150 that damaged an expensive fan I had. The first lady I spoke with literally said "don't plug anything expensive into it" and would only offer to replace the unit, got the new one, same issue, replaced again, same issue, returned to the store for a new one, still same issue, finally got through to one of their engineers, (I am an engineer as well, so I could finally talk to someone who understands electrical), and they basically said that's just how they chose to build those units and they had no plans to correct it, that maybe new models down the road would be made better lmao. After pushing them over and over about this, all I got for my troubles/troubleshooting of their flawed product was a free spare head for my weed eater in case it fails lol. I still like all the other products I own from them but hope I never have to deal with their customer service again

It's a decent price if you need just a battery. As other have mentioned, it's only slightly cheaper compared to several kit that include this size battery.

Like others I needed a battery last time but paid a extra 35 more to get it with a blower as well.

How so? I've got two 2.5Ah batteries that are about a year past their warranty and they're both failing on me. I was curious so I opened them up and all the cells are swollen. I love EGO but I hate the idea of buying new batteries every few years. I figure I'm out of luck, so I haven't bothered to contact customer service.

When was that exactly? I got a similar deal back in 2019, but it was for a re-certified blower and the battery was 2.5Ah. A quick search here doesn't seem to show any 5.0Ah batteries at that price.

I love my Ego tools, but I hate their pricing structure for batteries. This battery should be $100 regularly OEM.

Unfortunately this is a pretty good deal for the battery alone though. It is what it is unless you want to buy a knock-off brand from Amazon.

You could also probably do a little better if you bought a combo with battery (and then sell the tool on like FB marketplace)...but that's more work.

My 2x 5ah's and 2x 2.5ahs definitely aren't holding the charge they used to, but they still get me by, so I'm not biting.

They've always quickly sent me replacement batteries; however, I have no expectations that they'll replace them out of warranty.

Ego, warranties, and customer service aside, lithium ion batteries don't last forever. It's just the technology — no brand will be able to get around them failing eventually.

There's thing you can do to reduce the likelihood of this happening though. Namely, keeping them in a "healthy" charge state and not exposing them to extreme temperatures (e.g. garage in summer/winter)

Right now Amazon and Ace hardware have the EGO Power+ LB6153 615 CFM 56-Volt Lithium-ion Cordless Blower with 4.0Ah Battery and Charger Included for $169. Not sure if its the upgraded fuel gauge version though. Essentially getting a well reviewed blower for $30.

I've had the Ego line since they first came out, have yet to have a battery fail. I run them until they die, then fully charge. They are stored in my garage year round, over 100 degrees in the summer, negative Temps in the winter.
