Suggest people do some research on the Rad Power RadRover 6+ before purchasing. Checking bike forums, the new deliveries seem to have many issues with bad parts. Same with the RadCity 5. Check the Reddit boards too. The very slow response from the new Rad company for warranty service is forcing many owners to find replacement parts elsewhere, at their own cost (controllers, displays, brakes, wiring harnesses). New bikes are arriving with bent rotors, misaligned brake pads, controllers that shut off during travel, wiring harnesses that have switched wires. Those new buyers with good bike repair skills will do better.

Rad Power Bikes hasn't been responding well to the huge number of complaints from new buyers, but you'll likely eventually get a replacement part after a number of weeks. Feel free to test their support methods right now to see what you might be facing. It's all self-serve and don't count on getting a call or email returned. They're telling new owners to take their newly purchased bikes to their local bike shop to deal with their new bike problems.

Some posted that the new buyers of the company have done 4 rounds of layoffs of support staff in the past year. Search it. Real problems with the company at the moment with its extreme cost-cutting and very poor quality controls at its Chinese manufacturing facilities.

The RadWagon and RadRunner are much better model options if you're still going to buy from the company. I'd stay clear from the Rover and City at this time, unless you have a good friend at your local bike shop and don't mind many additional added costs in your first year or two, until you've purchased your non-Rad replacement parts. Beware the recent production models called PLUS models. "Plus", must mean "plus many additional costs, and time, after".

Online reviewers of Rad bikes receive complimentary free bikes from Rad (after being well-tested by Rad before shipping) in exchange for their positive review. So when the reviewer mentions little issues, you should think to yourself "big issue". They won't be able to review the actual quality however since Rad very carefully inspected the tester beforehand.

Agree 100% that RAD is seemingly falling apart on a customer service level as well as the future of the company. I love my City 5 Plus (zero issues with 600 miles) but won't be getting another RAD when my wife is ready to get one.

It's sad to see such a rapid downful of Rad support services and the quality of their latest manufactured bikes.

The old company had great support, although it sometimes took time to get a part, but the new owners of the company have been dramatically cutting costs of production and support. It's been so severe in the past months, reported in the media.

April 27, 2023 - Rad Power Bikes has a 4th round of layoffs

July 21, 2022 - Rad Power Bikes confirms second wave of layoffs this year

Rad's investors include Fidelity Management & Research Company; Counterpoint Global (Morgan Stanley); Vulcan Capital; Durable Capital Partners LP; The Rise Fund (TPG's multi-sector global impact investing strategy); and funds and accounts advised by T. Rowe Price Associates. Blue Nile and Zulily co-founders Darrell Cavens and Mark Vadon also invested in 2019.

The Seattle-based company then got hit with two lawsuits and now, is recalling its RadWagon e-cargo bikes in collaboration with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission.

It's fine for new owners and new executives to want to cut costs, but to cut component and assemby production costs in Asia, and then massively cut costs associated with providing warranty service, and force the service response time into months rather than days, that's a recipe for disaster.

I'll guess that the new owner investors want to show the most profitability, quickly, and then pitch the company to be re-sold at a significant investment profit. If that happens in the next year or two, that could be a good thing, if the future buyer focuses again on quality, service and customer satisfaction. For the moment, all those qualities are extremely lacking, and possibly costly and painful to new owners.

For a little more, you can get a comparable Aventon Aventure 1 for 1500. They're supposedly one of the best ebike companies when it comes to customer support and local repair options.

Scratch that, the Aventon Aventure 1 is now 1399 for the 4th of July sale, so it's same price as this bike. Get the Aventon if customer support is at all a concern.

Just bought my wife the RadRover 6 Plus stepthrough when Juiced had their deal on the RipCurrent which i bought for myself (Wife is definitely NOT a SD'er).

The RadRover was packaged better, had a better feel, and the first impressions were much better compared to the Juiced bike. Having said that, both bikes are great, and once the packaging has been tossed you quickly forget that first impression. Both bikes are functioning as expected. Hoping I don't need to test either bike's customer service department though - but cant that be said about pretty much any of the consumable cr@p we buy anyomore?

Just returned a RadTrike I bought for my mom on the last sale because it arrived with a defective handle bar, with two of four threads used to attach the handlebar to the trike being bad. They proceeded to charge us $160 for the "pre-paid" FedEx return shipping from our refund, for something we never even got to even try out. Not slick at all.

What really irked me was that they do not tell you up front that the mandatory FedEx "pre-paid" shipping is being paid by you, we only found out when asking about other options for returning, and they take this out of the refund. When I noted the defect, and that the return label didn't mention it and only gave a reason as "customer unsatisfied/changed mind", they still denied me return shipping and also falsely claimed that they were "already waiving" a re-stocking fee of 30% ($600!!) that is only supposed to apply to used products being returned with a certain mileage. This was returned new, had 0 miles, never even sat on or turned on. Not an honest company to work with at all.

The return process was also very time consuming, they make you take pictures ("for your own good") of every step in re-boxing before they accept the return and send you the "pre-paid" label.
