Have this set. My only complaint is that I have to take everything out to use it.

I see a lot of this exact comment and although I understand the point, I tend to think of 3/8 as my go-to standard for most things. 1/4 is more for tight conditions and 1/2 is when I really have to crank on something. If anything I'd consider 1/4 to be filler honestly. I'd rather have 3/8 and 1/2 and instead of 1/4 I'd like to see more specialty stuff added to sets like spark plug sockets, impact sockets/adapters, 1/4 drive to 1/4,3/8,1/2 adapters for impact drills... Ya know ACTUALLY useful things, and HOLY HELL drop the stupid 97,000 piece bit sets! Everyone complains about filler BS but yet EVERY manufacturer continues to add them to these "mechanics sets" c'mon please, what mechanic uses that crap? Those pieces especially are just metallic beef jerky waiting to be stripped IF you can even find a place to ATTEMPT to use them and Allen wrenches/open end wrenches are meh... everyone already has all of that stuff, just stop! I'd rather have more sockets/deep well and specialty adapters/tools in a set like this. I think the "theory" is "all inclusive one stop shop to keep in your trunk in case you need it" but when do you need a 97,000 piece bit set on the side of the road? literally never... just replace the garbage with real tool even if piece count "suffers" nobody looks at piece count at face value, nobody is buying tools based on piece count, it's stupid that tool manufacturers think professionals that use tools buy into that bull$#!√. who do we have to talk to in order to explain that the target audience is not fooled by piece count full of crap?

I've had this set 2-3 years now, after getting it between black Friday and the new year on a sale for $99. I have used it a lot and just sent a link to an uncle who's been impressed with it a few times. The ratchets aren't too bulky and can fit in some spots that his craftsman set couldn't fit into (alternator replacement). I wish the trays had easier to read numbers and maybe a couple of more open ended wrenches would be nice (hence the ratcheting ones I keep in the tray).

I concur it can be a pain to take out each tray to get to what you need, and it weighs a ton, especially if you throw some pliers and ratcheting wrenches in the top tray like I do. I've cracked the chrome on one of the big sockets impacting the living daylights out of it with a super high torque cordless 1/2" impact gun, but it hasn't been an issue (though I was disappointed at the time, a moment later it did remind me that I was going nuts on the nut I was trying to get off and a nother spray and some more time couldn't hurt...needed a long breaker bar in the end).

I'm not sure what's out there for this price r
Am not sure it will go as low as $99 again, but for me it's been a really solid set and since I already had a rolling DeWalt tough system box from a previous clearance it's been perfect. Quality set that seen a lot of use.

If you don't need the box the 341pc set is still available on Amazon for $188, just got mine today and stacked a $15 Citi Card promotion(from another thread) put the 3 trays in my new Husky 27in Tool Chest(From another thread and it fits perfect)!!!!

Does anyone know if there are major quality and/or piece availability differences between this and the 192 piece mechanics Dewalt set from experience?
Quality is identical as they have the same tools, just slight variations on the variety. These DeWalt tools are top quality. The sockets are similar quality to the hand-me-down Snapon ones I have. Plus they have a lifetime warranty. I've had mine for a few years and only broken one socket (my own fault trying to break loose a bolt that had red Loctite on it without heat). I emailed DeWalt a picture and had a new one at my door the next day.

Couldn't disagree more. 1/4" is probably my most used size when working on a modern/semi-modern vehicle.
