FYI these deals are usually for non-discounted plans: Magenta, Max, Go5g, Go5g+ (one and simple choice might qualify). Spring customers, military, 55+, metro pcs may not qualify. Either way it's best to confirm if you qualify before adding the line, otherwise it's YMMV if you add it on your own without checking.

Sometimes these deals require going in store and limited time (24-72hrs usually). It's completely free (taxes & fees not included). If you have a tax inclusive plan like magenta, then everything is free (you might still have tax/fees of 10 cents or so... pointing it out since it triggers some people). Free as long as you don't close it. If you removed any lines in past 90 days they must be added before you can add another lime that would be free. If you cancel any lines within 12 months from adding the free line you lose the discount.

You CAN port a number in while adding the free line or later down the road. If you port the number OUT later, you might lose the free line. You can remove lines after 12 months and it won't affect the free line. Generally, you can't get the free line & a free phone promotion, extremely YMMV since it works for a few people, but I wouldn't count on it.

Know the terms and conditions before making a mistake and ranting.

Edit* Terms & Conditions? 'Customers must have the "2023BYOD_P1" segment on their account in Atlas or Tapestry to qualify. Customers with no segment or "2023BYOD_P1 - Inactive" are not eligible. BYOD or FRP purchases only (EIP not eligible for life of line). Device Connection Charge is required.'

These never work with 2 lines for $70 55+ plan. You need to convert to a much more expensive plan to get the "free" one.

As a Tmobile "ONE Plan All in Promo" I've got 2 lines, for which I pay $80. I can never get them to give me a free line add on unless I change my plan to something that's going to cost me more.

Sadly I think you are right., although there was a very brief period that a free line was offered on One plan all in promo. 3 lines for $80 would have been the holy grail I think. Especially with kickback.
Personally, I would try again, this time via Twitter and early in the day.

First off, all reps are different. I have always has better results in Am or early afternoon, because I believe you are dealing with US reps as opposed to later or by phone. Judging by the broken English, calls messages can be routed out of country. My personal experience has been way better customer service at these times, albeit slower. And I'm talking about more account/promo questions. They seem to try harder or take it upon themselves to escalate to help you.

But make it clear you to them you want to remain on the One plan, first and foremost. The magic number is 9 lines on One plan.. aka 9-12 club...Technically it is a change of plans to them(different soc#) but to you, plan wise, it is still called One plan... Things may be different now, but you are so damn close to having amazing things happen to your cell phone bill, it's worth atleast another try with a different rep.... And of all my years dealing with Tmob including very recently, TForce on Twitter can really be your friend at those times I mentioned. good luck.. it's like striking gold if you are successful. lol

Naive question: what do you all do with extra line. As of now, I don't have a need for new line. If my family plan is eligible, should I get an extra free line.
I am on simple choice plan, no previous free lines.
Thanks.

I am just trying to know the benefits of this new line.

List a few:
Possible future use
Hotspot for travel(depending on your plan)
Free phone promotions with credit when you trade in eligible phone

I didn't see this thread until now. I called into T-Mobile yesterday to check on the status of 3 lines that I transferred to another carrier. The rep offered me this deal for the free line so I agreed to it. There was a $38 fee which she said would be refunded to me after I paid it. I'm on the One plan and this would be the 3rd free line I received since I've been on T-Mobile. Anyone have any knowledge of whether or not you can keep the free lines when you upgrade your plan? In my case, I'd be going from the One plan to Go5G Plus. TMO says I will keep them but seems too good to be true.

I chatted via apple messages with T-Mobile, was told I was eligible.

I'm on a simple choice, $70/2 line promo from a decade ago. I have 3 paid lines, 2 magenta friday lines taking me to 6 total lines now.

I tried adding online but saw no indication of eligibility. Instead I called, waited on hold 52 minutes, and the rep added. They also waived the activation. Think I'll stop in metropcs and get an iPhone se3 promo to throw on this line.

Why switch plans? People would give their left nut to be on the One plan. You're going to pay more monthly and get little to nothing in return. You most likely use less than 50gb/month and your goal should be adding free lines on the One plan until you hit the 9-12 lines and you'll save even more. Unless you're after discounted phones never switch from the One plan until they force you.

I have to contact and check to see if a current paid 3 line account that's on 55+ is eligible for this free line.

Same. I have this and the free data line. All unlimited at $80 has been impossible to switch from.

Pretty much identical to your case, including not eligible when I just asked.
