FYI these deals are usually for non-discounted plans: Magenta, Max, Go5g, Go5g+ (one and simple choice might qualify). Spring customers, military, 55+, metro pcs may not qualify. Either way it's best to confirm if you qualify before adding the line, otherwise it's YMMV if you add it on your own without checking.

Sometimes these deals require going in store and limited time (24-72hrs usually). It's completely free (taxes & fees not included). If you have a tax inclusive plan like magenta, then everything is free (you might still have tax/fees of 10 cents or so... pointing it out since it triggers some people). Free as long as you don't close it. If you removed any lines in past 90 days they must be added before you can add another lime that would be free. If you cancel any lines within 12 months from adding the free line you lose the discount.

You CAN port a number in while adding the free line or later down the road. If you port the number OUT later, you might lose the free line. You can remove lines after 12 months and it won't affect the free line. Generally, you can't get the free line & a free phone promotion, extremely YMMV since it works for a few people, but I wouldn't count on it.

Know the terms and conditions before making a mistake and ranting.

Edit* Terms & Conditions? 'Customers must have the "2023BYOD_P1" segment on their account in Atlas or Tapestry to qualify. Customers with no segment or "2023BYOD_P1 - Inactive" are not eligible. BYOD or FRP purchases only (EIP not eligible for life of line). Device Connection Charge is required.'

These never work with 2 lines for $70 55+ plan. You need to convert to a much more expensive plan to get the "free" one.

As a Tmobile "ONE Plan All in Promo" I've got 2 lines, for which I pay $80. I can never get them to give me a free line add on unless I change my plan to something that's going to cost me more.

What's your comment?

If you add a voice line it would also include data and hotspot. It would be the same stuff you have with your current voice lines. It is not just added voice only with no data.

If your on simple choice your lines include free unlimited data and hotspot.

This promo does not appear to allow for free data only line used specifically for tablets.
So - my order (you should check yours) said Unlimited Talk & Text only. The rep said that it was only there temporarily, and would get changed to a talk, text & voice line (similar to my other free UoU line) once I "received" my SIM card in the mail.

Obviously, I will confirm - a talk & text ONLY line is of limited use to me.

Just another data point. I used the t-mobile app to initiate chatting to ask for another free line. I did the same thing last December. This time, the customer service rep first tried to get me to upgrade from Magenta to go5G, even offering to waive the activation fee, stating I'd need to do that to before I could get another free line. I told her I didn't really want to switch from Magenta to go5G because the go5G would be $10 more per month and the only benefit would be 10GB more of hotspot data, which is something I don't need. She went replied with, ok, let me check if I can still get you the free line without changing your plan, and she quickly came back and said she could.

From there on was the same as last December, asking for my CC info before assigning me a number and activating the new SIM. She also still waived the $35 activation fee. One small hiccup is that I didn't have my BYOD phone with me when I was chatting. But the lady went ahead and activated the SIM anyway and just asked me to contact t-moile later to give them the IMEI of my BYOD. Not sure how important that part is, but I figure I'd go ahead and do it later when I get home and have my BYOD with me.

So now I have 2 paid lines and 3 free lines. One free line when I opened my Magenta account wiht 2 paid lines almost 2 years ago, one free line from last December, and now one more.
I did same.. be Leary of chat and make sure the promo actually shows up on the account. Many are wrong and adding lines to accounts not eligible

From text chat:
"Yes, that is exactly correct. No changes will be made on yoru account as the segment 2023BYOD_P1 will basically be added without charges.

Seeing that you've been a long time customer to T-Mobile already, I am sure that we can have this applied on your account again. So with this request, it can take at least 48-72 hours for the free line eligibility to be applied on yoru account again. Will that be fine for you?"

I guess we'll see how this goes. I dont have high hopes.
It won't work apparently as certain accounts had to be eligible. Reps can't "add" it.

I just did the same thing and no changes appear in my account yet. But I did receive two email messages, one for order confirmation and another for service agreement.
None of that matters.. need to see the promo actually shows on the account under the promotions

Is the free line on your advantage unlimited plan? I noticed that mine is placed on an Essentials plan and their excuse is that my plans are on expired/no longer offered plans.

Just want to make sure the T mobile rep didn't screw me over.
The rep said it will be the same as the ones I have, so Advantage Unlimited. I will be pissed if they change it to a whatever TMO plan.

I also just realized that this is a voice only plan so the 10gb data plan and hotspot will not be added to the the new additional 5th line.Confused
Bummer! For me the unlimited data and hotspots were addons, meaning my base plan is voice with 2 gb data. Any new lines will only have voice and 2 gb. In your case it seems to be just voice only. I have the grandfathered Simple Choice 4 lines $100.

Interesting. I am still waiting to see if I am eligible (I chatted and they were going to apply the promo within a couple of days to my account).

I didn't even realize talk and text times were even an option.

What plan do you have currently? Are you on the old simple choice?

I am on simple choice with 4 lines (and one OLD digits line that's never been used) and was told by chat I am eligible. However, I've been chatting for about 1.5 hours now and they're dealing with "errors" on the account. Fingers crossed. I was ineligible last year.
I have the same simple choice plan, but was shot down via chat. They kept upselling me to one of the new Essential Saving plan.

Most important when adding a line is to have that documented somehow which is why I prefer chat or something digital so you can physically see the history. Via phone is tricky because not all recordings are recorded and rep won't always save the notes even though they say they do. Make sure it is all documented so you can reference it. It will save you down the line if there is any discrepancies.

Only reps can check this as there is no way for a customer to 'see' this on their account anywhere correct?

Good to know. I was wondering if I could deal hack. But we pay about $45 for 2 lines on Mint Mobile (15GB high speed, unlimited slow after) so it sounds like I'd be paying a lot more than this on a single T-Mobile line to add a free line.

I have simple choice with 6 lines with 4gb hotspot and unlimited data. I have never done a free line deal. Will the new free line have the same amount of data as my existing lines?

Also, are simple choice plans eligible for the auto pay discount? Can I set this up on the T-mobile site? How much is the discount?
I have seen mixed reports that some with simple choice have been able to receive a $5/line discount with the new auto pay rules.

My experience is every rep gave different answers - Facebook, text, T-Mobile app. Nobody ever gave consistent same answers so I end up having to call several times or chat several times to make sure they got their answers right. Unfortunately I think with promos like this it is very random and luck of the draw. Your best bet is to contact T-Mobile through their different platforms to make sure you do qualify for the promo. Some posts here said Tmobile made an exception for them so it's honestly luck of the draw.
