Got a new one in 11/22 & quite pleased w/ speediness (as others have noted, some of us aren't able to utilize fingerprint reader), paying $279. plus tax. Repped.

Every time I've had issues with cap sense finger print readers, it's been due to grounding issues related to making contact with the metal chassis with my body while also using the reader.

As an experiment, try surrounding the finger print reader with some tape, and make sure not to touch any of the laptop's metal chassis. See if the reader works now.
