I've been eagerly an anxiously awaiting a deal on one of these forever, is there any chance a better one is going to come around? Maybe Black Friday? Or is it likely that this is gonna be the lowest first-party price for a significant amount of time?

Think this is worth going from my 3900x? I would love not having to upgrade my whole computer- I do a ton of video and photo editing with Photoshop and Premiere Pro. Could I use my stock 3900x fan charger or would I need to buy an AIO water cooler?

I heard from people this runs really hot and would need to use water cooler... I spent so much on Noctuas so have the same feel as you but it may be worth it for us to upgrade both to 5950x and cooling system... and learn to clean up the possible messes.

A buddy of mine says he runs a Noctua with it and it works just fine. I'm going to try my stock 3900x cooler and see if the temps are acceptable for me. I much prefer a fan cooler to a water cooler

For my old system I was able to get a new sealed 5900X for $250 on ebay. Couldn't justify the additional cost of the 5950X for the few extra cores. I run the 5900X with multiple VMs on virtualbox.

AIOs have really come down in price. You can get a good 280mm one for $75 or less. I have this cpu running with the ML280 from coolermaster, which is always on sale, think I saw it on sale a few weeks back for like $40.

I have heard stock coolers don't work well with 5800x and up. This is also why it doesn't come with a stock cooler. I would either get a Noctua or AIO.

Literally 0 chance running even ok with stock cooler. Upgraded from 3900 to 5950 as well about year ago with Arctic 360 aio, was never above 65 celcius but 5950 runs around that on idle and hits 90ish on load as stock which has some kind of power restricting options on. Can't even turn pbo on with turing that power option off.

They seem to be charging tax before any discount. Depending on your state that could go as high as 30$USD+ just for tax.
