Is this really a slick deal at $300? I feel like this should be at least $280 or below especially on Prime Day.
Just get the Renewed one that's $189.95

So I read this deal has a taller jar vs the renewed blender has a wide jar and thats the only difference
This deal has a 7 year warranty from Vitamix whereas the renewed one only comes with 3 year.

It's not 5200 is the gold standard and essentially all subsequent models are based on this, everything above and beyond is fluff and frills
Going to have to agree. The 5200 is almost under advertised as Vitamix would love for you to buy the new "smart" models with expensive attachments that have some sort of software self-detection when attached.

I spent way too long researching all the different and confusing models, watching youtube reviews that were clearly from paid shills pushing the newer versions (lookin at you life is noyoke), and reading descriptions from Vitamix themselves. I then got into reading user reviews. It became clear that the 5200 is the gold standard, the tall container lends itself to the best "Vortex" they're known for despite shorter smaller containers seeming more convenient. The smart features are not needed and too new to stand the test of time.

It's opinion and I haven't tested the newer ones. But as someone that works in software, I've found myself leaning towards tried and true products with no frills. I have no fear of a touchscreen button failing or something like that cause all the buttons are mechanical for example.

Anyway this wasn't supposed to be a huge rant but I did feel some frustration trying to decipher what model I actually wanted. Feels like Vitamix intentionally makes it unclear with Costco only models, ascent series, odd numbering schemes, etc. What ultimately pushed me over the edge was walking into a smoothie store and seeing them use what was basically a commercial version of the 5200. Not a smart series. If huge corporations swear by the more basic models, I figure that's the one to go for. It's been about a year and I love it.

Whatever you get, make sure it comes with their warranty. It's one of the best out there.

I have the Ninja Professional Blender (1000-Watt). Can anyone who has both chime in and tell me if it is worth $300 to switch to this? I'm not seeing a significant benefit.

That low profile sucks imo. I bought it to replace an older Vitamix I had and ended up returning it.

Is this "self-cleaning" just because you can put soap and water in it and turn it on to clean? Or is there something else that makes it self cleaning? I've cleaned my old Vitamix that way for years - just didn't know why it was being marketed as self-cleaning.
I suspect it is because other brands, like say the Ninja I own, have parts where the food gets stuck and you have to disassemble to clean.

I bought one. Wanted the white one but it wasn't discounted and didn't want fomo. But I don't drink smoothies. Just an aspiring home cook. Any other non-smoothie drinker here use these regularly? I have a food processor, stand mixer, and immersion blender so trying to see where this fits in.
