I have them running in my DS220+ just in a lower capacity. I don't think capacity should make a difference considering I know the 220's will take 20 TB drives
What capacity are you running? Also, can you provide feedback on the noise level and temps at idle vs activity?

I have two 12's. The server is kept in an unused room now and I don't monitor temps too much. Back when I had the server under our TV, you could really only tell it was on when there was nothing going on in the room or very quiet dialog.
I have a security cam linked up so it's saving footage constantly as well.

DS220+ do not support 20TB drives. and it does list WD 16TB (this drive) as compatible as well...
Things may work, but not officially supported. In case of any loss, Synology or WD is not going to help.

Perhaps I'm mistaken, but I watched a guy on youtube saying this happened after they had been powered ON for 3 years (as expected for a NAS).
Are you saying that it has - in effect - an "in service date" and it goes from that date, in which case WD is sleazier than I think they are?
