If you consider this a checking account (since you can treat your savings account as one, no limits to monthly transactions, if needed you can debit from checking account and have automatic overdraft from your savings) then you should look at this as the highest yield checking account available.
redneck pays more and there is another that is even higher
My main gripe is they lured me in with a 2.5% checking account if you had direct deposit and in 6 months it's now down to 0.5%.
Transfer everything to your savings account. Enable automatic overdraft and anything from your checking account will get debited from your savings automatically.
This has just launched. To attain eligibility for the SoFi Plus savings rate of 4.5%, you can now qualify by adding $5000 to your account every 30 days. This is to support entrepreneurs and gig workers who may not have a direct deposit. You can view this in the terms page now.
SoFi members with Qualifying Deposits can earn 4.50% APY on savings balances (including Vaults) and 0.50% APY on checking balances. Qualifying Deposits means one or more deposits that, in the aggregate, are equal to or greater than $5,000 to an account holder's SoFi Checking and Savings account ("Qualifying Deposits") during a 30-day Evaluation Period (as defined below). Qualifying Deposits only include those deposits from the following eligible sources: (i) ACH transfers, (ii) inbound wire transfers, (iii) peer-to-peer transfers (i.e., external transfers from PayPal, Venmo, etc. and internal peer-to-peer transfers from a SoFi account belonging to another account holder), (iv) check deposits, (v) instant funding to your SoFi Bank Debit Card, (vi) push payments to your SoFi Bank Debit Card, and (vii) cash deposits. Qualifying Deposits do not include: (i) transfers between an account holder's Checking account, Savings account, and/or Vaults; (ii) interest payments; (iii) bonuses issued by SoFi Bank or its affiliates; or (iv) credits, reversals, and refunds from SoFi Bank, N.A. ("SoFi Bank") or from a merchant.

Thanks for confirming. There has also been some recent talk about this on X (Twitter) and it's great they've added this as an alternative to direct deposit. They are living up to their promises.
For those using SoFi for investments, I've heard they will soon roll out improvements to their options trading including the ability to sell covered calls. Once that is available, the only thing I'll need is a SoFi business checking/savings account. Hope that is on their roadmap.
Can anyone confirm regarding the $500 Zelle Daily limit, does that also apply to incoming Zelle Transfers? I receive a few Zelle transfers a month over that limit.
FWIW I am buying treasury bills at about 5.4% yield in fidelity, maturing in December and February. Min size is $1,000 (1 bond). Seems very straightforward.
[QUOTE=EfficientGame645;164603405]SoFi is offering up to $250 with qualifying direct deposit, terms apply. Up to 4.50% APY on savings and 0.50% APY on checking. No account fees.
Just Posted this: I received flyer and opened at bank branch in Florida. 5/3 Bank offering 5.30% interest rate on money market through 2/1/24 with minimum $25,000 deposit (no limit on deposit amount) for deposits made before Sept.8th, 2023. Interest rate paid thru Jan.31st, 2024 ! Best rate I've seen in months for money market with nothing other than 25K minimum requirement and with a bank that has branches in some regions. Must use this code to get this rate and YMMV as I am in Florida and received this offer. Did not see online offer page but you can call them and here is the offer code: 34TH AASN P1VS KBDX .

Too much of a hassle to change everything over.
Does this mean that if you only open a savings account with Sofi and deposit a lump sum without direct deposit, you won't be able to exceed 1.20% apy?
