Just leaving this comment here for the benefit of others - This is the Edge (Mediatek processor) and not the Edge + with the Snapdragon processor.

I have a pixel 6a and this Moto edge. Other than the updates, the Moto is a much better daily driver. I've been using it since December and have found it perfectly capable. The screen is impressive and bright. The camera has a larger main sensor than my galaxy S 22, and although the software is weaker, it takes really nice photos that look great even printed out at 8.5 by 11. The speakers are much better than my galaxy or iPhone. The media Tech is surprisingly responsive, although obviously not as fast as the snapdragon in the Edge plus. It's very lightweight and feels nicely balanced in the hand. I'm sure others will disagree vehemently, but I heartily recommend this phone at this price.

The megapixel count isn't what matters on modern smartphones. It's just a marketing figure. The AI software that's processing the photo is what matters. Also, the quality of the sensor is more important than the pixel count. The Pixel 7 line only has a 50MP camera and it's tied with Samsung and Apple's flagships for the best photos. Moto has inferior software than the leading manufacturers. Moto has a phone with a 200MP camera, yet it takes inferior photos to even the Pixel 5's 12MP camera. Depending on what you're documenting, the Moto may still be fine, though. It's not like the photos will be a completely blurry mess. They just won't look as crisp and photogenic.

Mediatek processor is not good.
Not good compared to what? I'm on the Motorola Edge 2022 right now, it's surprisingly fluid. Haven't experienced any lag and didn't have to disable animations at all. I'm coming from a OP 6T and the mediatek is leaps and bounds ahead of that device.

If anyone wonders, the Dimensity 1050 is as good as Snapdragon 865+

Not true. I also have a Samsung tab s7 with 865+ CPU and the mediatek 1050 is noticeably worse than the snapdragon 865+.

I would say the mediatek 1050 has similar performance as something between snapdragon 768G and 778G.

You can also check the benchmark comparisons:

That being said, this edge 2022 is a good enough phone for many people. It even has wireless charging AND reverse charging for other gears like bluetooth earbuds!

Its MSRP should be in the $300-$350 range from the beginning, not $498-$599 Motorola asked for.
If Motorola had included a microsd card slot for this phone like its other $200-$300 offerings, I personally would use it as a backup phone or mini tablet.

Interesting. 256 is not enough. I would think even 128 is sufficient for most people

If it doesn't have microsd card slot, 128GB or 1TB internal storage doesn't matter for me because I won't leave much of data on internal storage. I would tranfer out important data regularly to external hard drive.
For phone without microsd card, it's very risky to store large amount of data on internal storage and when the phone has issues like failing to boot, it's almost impossible to recover/transfer out the data, especially if the phone is not rooted.

If it has a microsd card slot, the size of internal storage doesn't matter either as soon as it has 128GB for apps because I can store important data and large files on microsd card.

will almost never use sd card.
128 sufficient.

i can easily restore phone at any given moment and not loose anything

I experienced one boot failure caused by an app with my previous backup phone oneplus nord n10 and only factory reset could make it boot again. I was able to manually pull out my data because it was rooted and I could boot twrp to access the files on the internal storage. If it was not rooted, all the files on internal storage that I didn't backup manually would be lost.

I am a person who doesn't like to backup personal files to cloud storage.

For microsd card, there are relatively easy ways to recover the data even if it's corrupted or wiped by mistake.

I wont consider anything than 1 TB at this point....recording in 4k and 8k and taking tons of pictures storage wears out quickly.

This one is 8GB/128GB. More RAM is always worth it.

Yes, but it's sent after 90 days.
So, i went to Costco and ordered 2 of these. Had to pay ~$31 for taxes. However, even though they acknowledge it is free with trade-in and i would get a $75GC for each upgrade, I didn't receive any paper work. Only online document from T-Mobile for EIP (~$25 / month for 24 months). And also a text message from T-Mobile that I have accepted to Trade-in my S7Edge for $0. Embarrassment

Would others please verify this is how it is? I am not sure I wanna stuck with a dud for 2 years of payments Big Grin These are just my backup phones for when something goes South.
