Starting Jan 1, 2023, CA has a $2000 limit for exemption from sales on bullion. One gold bar is under the tax-exempt limit, and two qualify for no tax. Earlier this limit was $1500 since Jan1, 2009

Where do you liquidate this should you want to cash out? What kind of fees do you end up paying?

The spot price of gold today is $1959. This is no brainer deal, especially with the cash back.

Please tell me you did not believe he was serious? Clearly he was joking. Costco would never do something that monumentally stupid, and no one on SD forums is buying 100 1OZ bars of gold "on sale". laugh out loud

Costco has a generous return policy so you can return it when mankind starts mining its first asteroid and the price of gold goes to zero. Might have to wait a few decades, though.

I am not sure why people want to buy gold for investement. I have not found a way to sell gold anywhere close to the spot price. I can sell my stocks depending on brokerage from 0-under 50 a trade.
Although I'm with you on stocks being easier to sell, the gold is a paranoid persons hedge against a market crash. For some the idea with gold is it's like real property for barter / trade. In a crash, the stock might not be worth the paper it's printed on.

Ive tried to liquidate physical gold recently... nowhere will even pay spot for gold eagles except a couple online dealers, and good luck trying to mail 50 grand of gold. Transaction fees on physical gold are easily 5+%

No one will pay spot price to you. How do you think those businesses run ?
