Intuit don't own quicken since 2016. Intuit profits from Turbotax and quickbook. Quicken is owned by venture capitalist called Aquiline Capital Partners at present.

Some people have dozens of investment accounts, rental properties, bonds that mature at different times, stock option grants, etc - for them, Excel would never cut it.

Hate that I have to buy this every year, but it's the only program that handles budgets and finances like I want. This is the lowest it's been for a while.

Got one. Might as well...if you wait too long you end up paying full price.

How long can these sit before activation expires? I'm 16 months away from expiration and am aware of the 180 day limit. Wait for another deal in 10 months or buy now and set a reminder to pull it off my bookshelf and install in 10 months?

Generally 24 months it expires from generation of code.

I was able to confirm the following; If an activation code is expired at the time of purchase or fails to be accepted when entered into the program prior to the expected expiration date, our customers can contact Quicken Support and we will provide a replacement after proper proof of purchase has been collected.

This policy does not apply to expired/invalid codes that were purchased over 24 months ago.
I have bought in September before and activated in March the following year. Newegg also had this same deal in January of this year (2023). I suspect they will have the same deal again this January 2024.

You will be fine, I've purchased quicken premier kept for over a year, you can try and redeem the code when you get it and you will get a message telling you to wait until (they will provide a date) to redeem. I think they only let you go 2 years total so once you are at a year or less you can redeem the new code to extend your membership.

This may be an FAQ but how do you renew the subscription. In the application all I get is prompt to enter credit card information.

According to Quicken FAQ
Can I use a retail copy of the Subscription Release of Quicken to extend my membership?
Yes, but you can only redeem the activation code in the retail copy to extend your subscription in the last six months of your current subscription term. Note: Activation codes are good for one year after purchase.

May I ask, what is the 180 day limit? Is it that Quicken will download transactions up to 180 days in the past? My experience is some banks don't even allow 180 days.

Good deal. Looks like I've done this Newegg deal a couple times now at least. Always well in advance of renewal, but it has worked out. I make a calendar reminder to apply activation code six months prior to expiration.

No, what the 180 day limit refers to is how many days before the expiration of your software that you can apply a new activation code.

Edit: shoot - I failed to see the rest of the thread before posting this. Leaving the post up, to encourage anyone else with positive / negative experiences to chime in...

My renewal date is still 10 months out. In the past, I've bought physical CDs, and the renewal code was always good for at least a year, so I could wait until the required 6-months-from-renewal date to enter the code.

Has anyone had luck doing the same with these digital editions? There are mixed reports in the product Q&A.

I hate this software with a passion. It's overpriced, it's been using the same outdated, buggy middleware framework for way too long. Somehow, their customer service is worse.

[EDIT: I've been using my copy of YNAB4 from 10 years ago, manual entry]

I'll take, "Name something that did not happen for $100," Mayim.
