I got in with the orginal deal without any issues. There was a lot of misinformation in the orginal thread, but yes, all you have to do it just activate the phone with the fi app, then take the Fi SIM out and never touch it again (sock drawer it, trash it, etc). You can pop in a SIM from another carrier with no problem. After 120 days have passed you can verify that it's finalized in your fi account > savings > earned. At that point you can do whatever you want, the discount is yours to keep.

I think a significant difference here is we are not getting the storage upgrade for free? I got this deal last time but got the s23 ultra with 512gb for the same price as they are offering the 256gb.

Google just emailed me back, they say that the promotion has ended so I'm not eligible for it.

I attached an image of the email

So I'm not sure whats going on, but this is the email I received back from their higher level support.
Any clue what I should do next?

The offer was showing up yesterday and today it's not, so I think maybe the offer did end but you all haven't gotten the updated offers yet or something.

I don't know why Google told you that the offer has ended when I can put the item in the cart 5 minutes ago with the $600 discount. See attachment with the date/time.

EDITED: I guess you can save a copy of my attachment photo, send it to Google and see what they say.

I'm still fighting with Google to get the offer enabled on my account. I showed them photos from here that prove the offer is still active. They're saying it's expired but I am guessing they will drag this on until the 20th or whenever so I miss the slickdeal.

What do you all recommend I do now in light of this because I have basically 6 days until the offer is gone on the 20th . Should I order a new Sim card and make a new account and activate on a new phone to see if the promo shows up?

I'm debating it now but I'm worried the same thing Is going to happen and it's going to cost me more and more money to buy another Sim and service to test

With the announced end date of Sept 20th drawing close, you're in a tight spot. If you buy/activate a new BYOP SIM, are you going to order the S23 as soon as you see the offer? If you do, there will be a high chance that when you activate the S23 it will show that the S23 was activated by a new member and disqualify your promotion. Do you feel comfortable with getting these same support people to straighten out that issue for you?

As far as the cost of activating another BYOP SIM, the SIM will cost you $10 and about $25 for the cheapest plan with taxes and fees. But if you don't get offered the $600 promo, you can cancel your Fi service and get a prorated refund after 2 billing cycles.

I'm not going to make a suggestion on what you should do because I don't want to get blamed if things go wrong. I'm already unhappy with being blamed for recommending that one waits until the bill has been created before ordering the S23.

So one of the things that Google support told me was that im a new customer and that Is why they're showing me new customer offers still. So I think the people having their offers revoked are facing the same issue that I am . Basically google is saying that new people just signing up for fi are not qualified for the offer yet

The support rep told me that I've only been a member for 4 days and that I'm still a new member until a month or something like this. So I think that is part of the problem

So far, you're only person that saw the $600 offer then having it "revoked". What happened with the other people is different: they ordered the S23 before the bill was created, so Fi system didn't "fully" recognize that they have an active Fi phone number to preload that number to the S23 phone. So when they activated the S23 it didn't see that their Fi number was on the BYOP phone and didn't ask to transfer that phone number to the S23. So the S23 activation was seen as by "a new member".

Either something went wrong with your Fi account, or now Fi requires that a person must be a Fi member for at least a month in order to be offered the deal. I don't know. If it's true that now one has to be a member for at least a month to see the deal (and confirmed by another person who just activated a BYOP SIM), then I will change my post about the BYOP SIM trick or delete it altogether.

Yep what the live chat Google Employee told me was that they are basically counting people who just joined fi / activated a sim card as new members, doesn't matter how long you've been activated, within a week is still a new member, and she said that in their system that if you buy the phone it can sometimes revoke the offers and make you pay full price for the phone since you're not a pre-existing member.

I think they have basically found out what Slickdealers are doing, buying the Fi sim and activating it after 3-4 days and then buying the phone offer, so now they've removed it.

This is what was explained to me anyways.

I'm getting ready to call them again and see what can be done about it tho, I haven't given up, and I'm using your images to prove that the offer is still valid. Appreciate the images.

The rep who said the offer has ended is a liar. Fi reps have been known to make up answers.

Yep they are lying, this makes me very cautious to order the 2nd sim card, buy another service plan and then buy the phone as soon as the offer shows up. The service they're giving me is dishonest. and then if they cancel the promotion on me midway through I'm going to be screwed.

They also just now told me on the phone that there is nothing else they can do, and that now I have to deal with the "specialist" team and that no one on the phone will be able to help me, and that no one can adjust the promo offers shown to customers.

So basically I'm stuck at this point. I am waiting on a follow up from the Fi promotions specialist team, and I've sent them copies of your screen shots from today that show the phone is still available for purchase on the discount, even after they lied to me and told me the promotion has ended.

Can you please confirm what all steps you did previously

Also we're you at any time a previous member of Google Fi .

It's a bit hard to believe that just now google Fi changed its policies . If it was they have known this trick for years now and I highly suspect Google has moved in to stop it now

Another point of contention could be that the offer date change (10th September to 20th September ) somehow messed up with showing the promo code to you as you were in middle of the process then .

Also I would not rely on any tech support as I have had pretty bad experiences all around even across the best of the brands.

The latest one is a friend whose Z Flip 5 preorder was auto cancelled by Samsung on the last day of preorder and they promised they would be giving a price match across all channels and now rejecting the same saying the order had a preorder code involved .

Tldr : Share the exact chronology of events with the dates and whether in the past at any time were you a Fi member ignore the tech support who also work on permutations and combinations like us

I just got a PM from another member who activated a BYOP SiM today and didn't see the "instant discount" offer, only the 24 months credit. (I can still see the instant discount offer). So looks like Fi now requires one to be a member for xx days before they get the instant discount offer. The BYOP SIM trick no longer works. It was good while it worked (for almost 2 months). I will be updating the Wiki.

I made a new gmail account and bought a fi sim from best buy today for my spouse. Activation went well however I'm only seeing the 24 month bill credit thing and not the $500 off. Under fi savings I only have 1 blue check mark for "Signed up for Fi on Sep 15". Nothing for "activate service for 30 days" and nothing about my $10 sim credit.

Shame. I'm wondering if I should stay to see what happens with the first bill or see if I can get out now and save on the first bill.

You can wait until the 1st bill is available to see if you get offered the instant discount (I suspect that you won't see it). If you don't see the instant discount then cancel your new Fi service. They will proratedly charge you a few days of service, and refund the rest after two billing cycles.
