I have used them both because my friend reviews tech products for a living and I go over and play with them. This is a much stronger processor. It also supports a desktop mode and the a54 does not. This has a glass build wireless charging and a lot more flagship features.

Major benefit to the a54 is that it's going to be updated for a lot longer.a54 we'll get Android 13 and 14 and 15 and this will probably just get Android 14. And it won't get security patches for as long.

Personally I would go with the Motorola but if I was recommending a phone to a casual user like my mom or my sister I might lean with the a54 just cuz it'll be secure for a longer period of time and they probably wouldn't make use of the flagship features like the desktop mode or the stylus.

The Motorola also has stylus support with an external stylus you can buy, an amazing desktop mode with a dock. Definitely a more premium piece of hardware

Yes this been going on for awhile in The Feb thread.

Was thinking of getting one but
Slow Moto Android upgrades, no dual sim, avg cam, large size stopped me.

Was going to get it for $50 with in store port in...but boost stores charge MSRP tax, activation fees, and higher plan... Similar to metro stores...so I didn't go that route.

Just a little review here. I received the phone on Monday and have been using it since. For $200 this phone is a steal. I am updating from a Oneplus 9 that I got last year on a Slickdeal from Best Buy for $150. The biggest issue I had was that it was only 128gb and the OnePlus 7 I had before was 256gb. This being 512gb takes away any space concerns which were a big problem before. The Snapdragon processor is top of the line and for me the Ready Now is a real game changer. I am able the phone on my desktop during work and now I don't need to use the phone itself at all for most things. It will also be great for using on vacation. I can just plug it into any hotel tv and have a desktop like experience or watch whatever I want from the phone. I was able to unlock it right away from Dr. Unlock on eBay who was recommended in the wiki. I am having the tracfone issue mentioned but I will order a new sim to have it transferred before the month of Boost is over. I also use Google Voice as my primary number so the actual service or phone number doesn't matter. No need to port my number when I switch services. I am no expert with cameras and i'm sure the cameras here will meet my simple needs. Overall this is a great deal to get a top of the line flagship phone at a great price.

e-sim is disabled on the boost variant, and AFAIK, no one has found a way to enable it.

The phone is probably missing the 5G UW bands that Verizon uses, but someone else will have to confirm whether or not this is accurate...
Can anyone confirm if this will work with Visible SIM cards?

Pants for men can fit any phone. Never had issues with my S22U, moto edge, etc. I only wear 31, which is a small size.
Just curious - how would you compare this moto edge to S22U? I know camera and screen are better on Samsung, what about the rest? thanks.

A couple people said the hotspot is not working for them. Has anyone got it to work? This would be a deal breaker for me.

answers to some of your questions can be found in wiki.

did u read wiki?

suggest: wiki. read it

sample from wiki:

5. after u place the order. in 2 days, the sim card will auto activate. while in transit to you. many folks [including rafir] are upset because this makes u loose 2-3 days while the phone comes to you. shipping time varies. some in ca take 1 week from order date to receive day. in east coast it may be as short as 1 day. once the item is shipped. u can create a account using computer. then get the app on a spare phone. login. then u can see the exact imei they are sending you. send that imei to ebay seller above. u can have unlock code even before phone arrives. the imei can only be seen via the app. also good idea to turn off auto pay here

Just curious - how would you compare this moto edge to S22U? I know camera and screen are better on Samsung, what about the rest? thanks.
My daily driver is a 256GB S22U. While the Edge+ is nice, the S22U is in a different league. Feels much more solid, screen is much better (both brighter and higher resolution), has better speakers, has a stylus that I primarily use as a camera remote for selfies.

I also much prefer Samsung's UI, but then I also prefer Samsung's UI over Google Pixel's UI. I find the quick access buttons to be stupid on Google and Moto phones. Instead of using a small icon so you can have 5or 6 buttons on a row, they decided to use large bars so you can only have 2 buttons per row. Also, need to swipe down two times to access the brightness slider on Moto/Pixels. The brightness slider works terribly on the Moto/Pixel phones. Screen is too dark until you slide all the way up. Samsung's brightness slider is a lot more natural/linear.

The S22U is just a much better phone overall, but it also costs a lot more (well, unless you got it for $250 total out of pocket like I did with the crazy trade in deals last year).

Having said that, the Moto Edge+ is an amazing phone if you don't compare it to the S22U and keep your expectations in check, especially at this price. Also, the S22+ is a better comparison to the Edge+ 2022 based on the cameras and screen size/resolution, not the S22U. If I had to pick a new daily driver phone, I'd go for the S22+ or S23+ over the Edge+, but if you can't afford those, can't go wrong with the Edge+ at this price.

I agree. I was comparing mine to a Note 10 Plus and that is the better device. However for $202 you can't go wrong with this device and I look forward to owning the 2023 version in the future.

Unlocked using eBay code and using Verizon sim
Everything works except Mobile hotspot
Any Idea how to fix this?

I have the same issue, mobile hotspot does not work.
You may need to be more specific. If it's Verizon proper for both of you and not some MVNO that uses Verizon towers then is this Verizon postpaid or prepaid? I don't necessarily know the solution to your problem, but the more info you provide, the more likely it is that someone will be able to assist.

What was the crazy trade-in deal last year?
