Flip4 trade in is $900, looks like those who got the free upgrade from the 3 to the 4 are about to get another one.

I checked my Samsung order page and it says ship trade in by aug 13. Samsung seriously asking for trade in to be shipped by aug 13? 2 days after the new phone is delivered?

Ok, but why would one prefer to get the trade-in value over time in monthly bill credit installments, probably over 24 months, instead of instantly?
And IF one leaves T-Mo early before the 24 months, he'll be liable for the remaining trade-in value?
And pay the sales tax on the pre-credit price at time of purchase???
With the instant credit, tax is only on the after trade-in price in almost all states except CA and maybe a couple more.
One can get the phone unlocked to be used with any carrier, instead of getting a carrier locked phone and then wait for the unlock.
It doesn't make much sense.
Is it because of better trade-in values for some phones?
But theFlip4 traded-in has about the same value $1000, but with tax on that vs. $900 and tax only on about $49.

Carrier Trade-in FAQs:

T-Mobile special offer
How it works:
Have, switch to, or activate a Go5G Plus or Magenta MAX plan.(Go5G Plus)

Purchase a new Galaxy Z Fold5 or Z Flip5 with a T-Mobile Equipment Installment and pay the sales tax on the pre-credit price at time of purchase

Trade in an eligible device in good condition

Receive a one-time bill credit based on trade-in value and the balance over 24 monthly bill credits totaling up to $1000 after trade in is complete

Requires Go5G Plus, Magenta MAX, Sprint MAX, Magenta Plus, Business Unlimited Plus, or Business Unlimited Ultimate plan to be eligible, including all 55+, First Responder, Military, and Business plan versions. Go5G PlusUp or MAXUp add-on features are also eligible

Terms and Conditions
Contact T-Mobile before canceling service to continue remaining bill credits, or credits stop & balance on required finance agreement is due (e.g. $799.99 â€" Galaxy S23 5G 128GB). Tax on pre-credit price due at sale. Limited-time offer; subject to change. Qualifying credit & Go5G Plus service required. If you have cancelled lines in the past 90 days, you need to reactivate them first. Up to $1000 via bill credits; must be active and in good standing to receive credits; allow 2 bill cycles. Max 4 discounted devices/account. May not be combinable with some offers or discounts.
I did T-Mobile EIP through Samsung. I got $1000 for s22 instead of $600. My sale tax was on the sub total, not on the full value of $1919.99. The total amount on EIP for me was $1394.85 after all discounts before $1000 trade in bill credit. I only paid tax on $1394.85. Plus, my EDU discount and 12% CB were based on the value before trade in. My total was $1542.48 and $92.55 tax (6% in PA) for Fold 5, watch 6 40mm, 2 bands, a screen protector, and slim s-pen case. $240.18 out of pocket and $1394.85 on Tmobile EIP.

Total Savings $897.46
Promo Code - Q5B5RESWEB $50.00
Promo Code - unique $50.00
Bundle Discount $294.96
Education Savings $382.50
Promotional Discount(s) $120.00
12% CB check in November $185.10
Trade in bill credit $1000 for s22 over 24 months

So, $1394.85 + $83.69 (6% tax) - $1000 - $185.10 = $293.44. To me, upgrade S22 128GB to Fold 5 512GB for $293.44 is not a bad deal. I don't plan to leave Tmobile anytime soon.

How were you able to add the 2 $50 codes?
When you order thru T-Mo offer there is no box to enter the promo codes.

The $294.96 bundle discount must be for the watch 6, correct?

The Educ discount of $382.50 seems high, is it 20%?
I thought it was 10%.

That's correct for the S9. You're probably looking at the wrong tablet
I'm not looking at the wrong tablet they're advertising galaxy s9 ultra with free memory upgrade. They're sending me the base 256gb version with my bundle.

Given your situation, I'll say the most hassle free would be just wait and buy one off locally, you can probably score one between $500-600 depending on luck. Right now, Flip 4 is around $450 at ebay, plus tax and using that as trade in, you are giving at least $550 out of pocket already and have to deal with trade in and potential chargeback if trade in fail. This way you can save your iphone X for potential future trade in as well.

If you are going to the long route, just to answer your question.
1. You can use your original account and then towards the end, samsung will ask you to vertify through I.D me for your education account
I don't know if it's a glitch but i used my normal Gmail account and was never asked to verify an edu email. As far as I know, I've never associated my account with an edu address. my first Samsung smartphone was the s9 and it came out after I was out of college. Don't have access to those edu emails anymore.

Someone on a reddit thread says the IDme only pops up during the process if you add an accessory. Weird. The phone was showing a $270 discount initially but it was reduced at checkout to $120 (got the $50 off on top). Ended up getting it with fold 4 trade in for $679 post tax. Worth it to me, as I don't use a tablet anymore thanks to the fold and can afford an annual upgrade 'fee' of around that price

I added the code on Samsung website the same way as if you buy an unlock version. Yes, $294.96 was bundle discount for adding watch, 2 bands, case, and screen protector. $382.50 discount was for the whole order, not just the phone. EDU discount on Fold5 with no trade is $270. Once you add a trade, the discount is lower. For example, a $1000 trade will adjust the discount to $120. Since I traded my phone to Tmobile, I got the discount on the full amount, I think. Same thing with 12% CB, I got 12% on the sub total before trade.

Pixel Fold is a better android experience and form factor. I've had both and owned many pixels and flips/folds, will never go back to a Samsung again. Just a little "subjective" feedback, play with both before you throw down $800-1800 after a trade in.
Totally agree. Typing this on Google Fold. Definitely prefer it over Fold3/Fold4. With that said, I did order Fold5 as I had the Fold4 laying around.

That isn't the only catch. The catch is that they give you the discount spread out over 36 months as a bill credit as well. So instead of it being, say, $22.23/mo for 36 months adding up to $800, it'll be a charge of $50/mo with a credit for $27.77/mo to equal out to you only paying $22.23/mo. This becomes important when you want to upgrade your phone before 3 years is up; you will only have captured part of the savings because you'll lose all the remaining bill credits by paying your device off in full before trading in.

Verizon gets to play the long con this way because after there are two newer generations of phones out, you're definitely going to be noticing that your phone has fallen behind in performance. Support is slower, apps aren't optimized for your phone any more, and things lag and drag. And that's if you don't break it or lose it first. The much better way to go for most people is to play the yearly trade in game where you wait for the best deal from Samsung or Best Buy and pay $200-400 a year to always be using the newest fastest phone.

The Verizon deal is good for people like my husband who hate change and don't often use their phones. He traded in a Note 10 for a 23 Ultra and got $800 for it. His phone barely worked with Android Auto any more by the time he caved. He is definitely keeping it for 3 years.
Yes, I 100% agree with you, that is Verizon's long con indeed (I used to work for them).

Looks fine for trade-in. Does it still have the factory installed screen protector? If so, you can remove it or get it replaced free under warranty before trade-in

Same here not just this time but for the past several years.
Never verified an Educ ID, or asked to.
Used the Educ discount on a few accounts with different email providers, Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo mail.
Sometimes the Educ discount will not appear but it appeared after adding a phone to the cart, like the Flip 5 this time, and others in the past.
Sometimes there'll be a drop down with boxes to check the appropriate discount, Educ, Military, etc., but most times the Educ discount will appear.
Sometimes it helps to click on the bottom of the page on the offers links:
Offers
Offers
Samsung Rewards
Referral Program
Student & Education Offer Program

It looks not as much as a glitch but as something intentional for the order/sale to go through.
