Platinum Savings is a tiered interest rate account. Interest is paid on the entire account balance based on the interest rate and APY in effect that day for the balance tier associated with the end-of-day account balance.

APYs — Annual Percentage Yields are accurate as of September 3, 2024:

0.25% APY on balances of $0.01 to $4,999.99;

5.00% APY on balances of $5,000.00 or more.

Interest Rates for the Platinum Savings account are variable and may change at any time without notice. The minimum to open a Platinum Savings account is $100.

I've been banking with them for nearly 5 years. No major problems. My only issue is that their phone app is severely limited & kind of sucks. Other than that, if you send money, it arrives quickly & interest rates automatically raise without having to contact them. They seem to stay pretty competitive when it comes to the highest interest rate. I really like them & trust them with my money.

UPDATE: As of 06 NOV 23, the app on Android has been updated and reflects a top tier online banking experience. Very happy with the improvements that have been made.
You have more issues than just missing out on $10k!
Have been banking with them for many years. No issues, fast transfers, can manage everything online including closing accounts. Only negative is that their phone support sucks since they encourage online banking only, and they keep adding new account types with higher rates, and you have to open an account and transfer money to new account (which is pretty painless and done within minutes online)

Stay Away! I had a jumbo 5 year CD with these folks and they changed my terms mid way through costing me thousands in the process. Attempted to resolve the issue but their customer service is joke.

CIT feel free to reach out as I am still looking to resolve this issue.

opening a new account moderate, no pain, but the down side is updating the rate need days, the app is a joke, even website looks so basic and junk, otherwise looks great bank, they need to upgrade their online software since they focused on online service

Anecdotal but I'd be remiss if I didn't say how insanely disappointed and disgusted I am with SoFi…

My credit score went from 818 to 690 after I had my very first "delinquent account"

The automatic payment posted, but never went through and the banks (Wells Fargo and Chase) notified me that SoFi had cancelled my payments without reason. It took 4 manual attempts after the failed automatic payment for SoFi to finally work.

My credit score plummeted despite over $100,000 in the account because of a $1,100 credit card balance that SoFi messed up…

Just use Raisin. They're offering CD's and High Yield accounts up to 5.25% with zero fees or minimums.

Deposits are guaranteed through FDIC of NCUA.

Well I bit and opened an account. I prefer this over CDs and I am familiar with the bank enough for my comfort.

I will say that the whole account opening and funding process was very modern and slick. From clicking Open Account to finished with an initial deposit (automatically linked from PNC) took less than 5 minutes.

I opened today and it says my funds will be available by 04/26.

Kind of a pain to open an account. I'd recommend SoFi, slightly lower Apr but super slick portal. Find a friend to refer you for a referral bonus.

I like Raisin for the same reason. Simple account setup and funding plus rates are better.

Just know with their no penalty CD's you have to call to cancel. Not like Ally all online, not a big deal but was on the phone an hour to do this. Ally was instant.

Hi st_group!!
When you say they keep adding new account types with higher interest rates, are those new account types just savings accounts? I am trying to understand what exactly the "types" are.
Thanks!!!

Hi Sydd!!
Is the interest rate (5.05%) indefinitely on the money that is in the savings account?
Indefinitely? or is the 5.05% internet rate only valid for like 1 year or something, and then after one year there will be a new rate based on the future market conditions?
Thanks!!
