Man the price on these things is dropping so fast. Awesome to see it
Note this drive is QLC so it drops to slower speeds pretty quickly. I went with sandisk and samsung instead because of this.

These are great drives, I think out of the 15 drives I've ordered from Crucial over the past 10 years, only one came to me dead on arrival and they quickly replaced it.

One thing to note here, these X4 and X6 drives only have a 60GB cache, meaning you will see fast transfer speeds up to 60 GB, and then it trickles to very very slow speeds as it moves the data from the filled-up cache to the SSD chips inside.

I assume letters SE on BestBuy means Special Edition. So what's the difference, how special it is?
I think the SE version comes with a usb type A adapter.

I hate this drive
The 2 TB has 256 cache
Very slow recovery it's always full large files will copy at 100 MB a second

Or 90 I hate this thing it's terrible for video files. Avoid this if you work with large files

otherwise I guess it's great.

The western digital 570 and 770 they have a huge 600 cache and recover very quickly and that is the most important thing

The SanDisk uses these version one version two
Respectively

Unfortunately, the quality control is terrible. No one at Amazon or western digital or SanDisk. No one knows that Macs have a maximum speed of 1000 unless it's thunderbolt so I should've just stuck with the version 1. 2 TB because my one terabyte version two pro actually is overheating and disappearing Unless I provide active cooling

I am so disappointed in my shopping experience,

and the only external housings that work on the Mac without unmounting all night over and over again, are other world computing

Unless it's like the other world computing SSD case those work really well the orico case is good but don't close that case up the aluminum is too thin. It doesn't absorb enough heat it overheats with a modern Drive large capacity so I use a heat sink I added.

I guess four of the 570s would be perfect in a raid

You need to have 4 drives in the other world computing housings because of the channels,

one channel per drive

I think the 2 TB is 256 which is too small for me because it's always full and my files are large

I could use a 4TB one, but is it worth the $20 more (Best Buy) to get the X8 instead?

Almost always no. What are you doing with it? If you don't absolutely need more throughout then save your money

Just FYI - These Crucial X6 and X8 drives get REALLY hot when in use. Like, so hot that you'll be surprised a plastic enclosure can handle it without warping or melting.

I use my X8 on my Xbox Series S and sometimes I'll put my hand on it just to check and I am actually shocked at how hot it gets, even when it's not really being used playing a game sometimes. It makes no sense.

I'd recommend spending a couple bucks more and grabbing a Samsung T7 Shield or something similar to that.
U can use these ssd for Xbox?

Yes, I have the 500gb version and would not recommend it. Write speeds drop to below hdd write speeds once cache is depleted.

Looks like Crucial uses DR to handle their order processing. Terrible company. Had bad exerience with them in past with different manufacturer using them.
On one of my orders got UPS ship confirm number but UPS says not valid prob because package hasnt been made available for pickup.
On second order, got order confirmation on Monday, card was charged but seems whole thing went into a black hole.

I got the 2tb version of this. It seems like there was an upgrade to this product that it now does 800mb/s vs 500 before. Maybe this has something to do with peoples different experiences with the product?
