ive had this watch since Nov of 2021; im still able to squeeze over 2 weeks of battery life just using it to track HR, sleep stats, steps, workouts etc. with no ongoing BT connection since I don't need phone notifications etc. ; fantastic watch just ended up swapping out the band to a nylon one and it's been rock solid; brightness is more than ample outside in direct sunlight as well

Reviews say sleep tracking isn't so good. So may be a downgrade for that.

Looks like a pretty nice deal. Anyone have any experience with the built-in workout feature?

Have used Garmin watches for years now and would definitely recommend them (currently have a 245 Music or else I'd bite on this too). Just a note that this is near the average price give or take, with the 90d average for this Square Venu at $120 or so. I believe it is a record low however.

How does this compare to the Fitbit Charge 5 spec and size-wise?

Getting tired of my old Vivoactive 3 inconsistencies. While this might not be a big upgrade, I'm hoping the battery will be a little better than my old one, which was a refurb. I primarily like a smart watch for exercise and health tracking which is why I prefer Garmin. This will be my 4th Garmin.

The review also insinuated that all Garmin watches have bad sleep tracking. He was disappointed that it didn't automatically track his many naps. None of my Garmin automatically tracked naps.

If he's napping that much, why does he bother with a health tracker?

Great price. Music version is also available for ~$50 more.

One feature this model is missing is a barometric altimeter, which means that elevation data is at best inaccurate. Likely not a problem for many people (especially as Garmin can 'correct' the elevation data afterwards), but it can be for some activates.

Any smartwatch support offline music/podcast listening? I.e. mp3 files in internal storage or SD card? I find it not particularly useful if I still have to carry my phone for exercises.

Yes. Many of the Garmin ones do. At the lower end it's only the "Music" models (eg, for this watch it's the "Garmin Venu SQ Music"). At the higher end (eg, Fenix) they pretty much all support music.

All brand has smartwatch that support offline listening, but for 100 dollars new? i don't think that's likely at this moment.

that said, if you primary use is offline mp3 when you doing regular fitness (by regular i mean typical fitness that almost all brand supports), Garmin definitely shouldn't be your top choice. their bluetooth connectivity and easy to use is no where close to apple or Samsung, or may others.
