I bought this tent and went to Big Bend National Park with my 17 years old son last year , there were lots of room for us. No way it would be crowded for just 3 people unless you all are not average size. Btw, we had 2 queen size air bed inside, there was room for another, but we just didn't need it.
I've owned a similar tent to this for 20 years when Coleman first came out with it. the only difference with mine is I have a screened-in area on one end. these tents are fantastic. it sets up quickly. the door is far superior to any flappy zippered entry. I'm 6 ft and can dress without sitting on my knees I can raise my hands above my head. I suggest buying a canvas duffel bag to store it

Was gifted this tent (they thought it was a 6p) and it was rather large for our family of 3. Had a queen size inflatable which took up a little under a half of tent. Setup can be done with one person but definitely faster with 2. I appreciated the semi-circle door frame with inner Velcro to swing open and close as needed vs fighting flappy door sheets. Has this strange floor level vent/hatch big enough to pass small items to the inmates or allow for Stuart Little access only.
Bought this tent in 2012 for $120. Used it only few times but held up well. I wouldn't say it's an easy set up if you use the rain fly but it's not overly difficult and for the most part is self supported as long as there's not a lot of wind. The rain fly has quite a few tie lines and stakes. I like the door has poles that go through it to make it swing open rather than just a flap.

There's also more than just car and backpack camping. So yes. This tent is for "camping"
