The issue is far from black and white and requires some important nuance.

Milwaukee Tools is based in Wisconsin where they have a huge presence with thousands of employees in their factories, R&D facilities, and corporate offices. As well as a few factories in the south that make their blades.

They are a subsidiary of Techtronic, a global tools conglomerate that was started by a German in what was, at that time, the British territory of Hong Kong. It is a publicly traded company whose profits go to the shareholders, not China.

DeWalt is also a subsidiary of a global tools conglomerate with its profits going to its shareholders, wherever they may be in the world. And they make tons of products in China.

But why are we even talking about this complex geopolitical issue in a deal thread about a DeWalt saw for which there isn't a Milwaukee alternative? If you want a 12" non-sliding miter saw, the DeWalt is a great choice. Don't choose Milwaukee, because they don't make one.

Bosch is owned by a Chinese company called Chervon, and Makita is a Japanese company not owned by anyone since day 1. Neither are "Western".

The sliding version is more versatile but this one takes up much less space away from the wall and is always rock solid accurate especially for cutting crown. Amazing design on the miter lock detents. The Toyota Tacoma of chop saws

I got a dewalt dw716 at a pawn shop for $105 years ago and absolutely love it. I've done tons of home projects with it and it's worked great.

Tool review: These have insanely good reviews for a reason, they cut really well. I have a sliding miter that I love but I also have a fixed one that offers better precession. I think the really low price / quality makes it a no brainer.

Vote with your wallet: Unlike brands like Milwaukee that's parent company is based out of China, DeWalt is still owned by Americans in America. Their home country is the US, not China like Milwaukees parent company that's a holdings group. Having employees left in the US isn't the same as the HQ that gets the lionshare of the companies profits all going to China where it's taxed and benefits the CCP directly. Wiki it yourself, people here love to deny that the owners of the brand is registered in China as their home country. It has a very clear cookie trail back to China. EGO is one I thought was American, thought it was from California but it's Chinese too. So is Ryobi and most tool brands.

Bosch, Makita, DeWalt - All Western owned brands, all excellent, quality tools. Many are looking for alternative markets from China too so not only are they Western owned by in the future, like DeWalt, will use Mexico a lot more. No tax CCP profit.
Lol, this country was founded with capitalism in mind. Don't get angry when another country out-capitalizes you. Get rekt.

I'm pretty sure you can't get more Eastern than Japan.
I'm pretty sure you are incorrect. Have you spent time in Japan?

Where are u getting your "facts" from? China? Bosch sold its Skil brand to Chevron but that's about it.

It's not the being out caplitalized by China that people are concerned about. It's the cheating, deliberate disregard for intellectual property, corporate espionage, government backed schemes to take over western investments why China is a joke and will never become a true world leader.

A guy on Craigslist has a similar saw for 225 but comes with stand and couple blades and misc extras. This model is dws716. His is dws715. What's the difference? His post says it's brand new so I might grab it.
