Synopsis of comments in thread:

SHIPPING IS NOW $4.99

The rebate has an option to complete it ONLINE by uploading some photo's. You do NOT have to mail it in.

Many of these rebate credit cards make it difficult to zero out the full balance since many places will do a $1 preauth which ties that $1 up. Workarounds include prepaying utilities such as electricity or car insurance where you can specify the amount exactly or even easier, just add the entire balance to your amazon gift card balance which allows specifying an arbitrary amount.

Finally GEN 4 SSD's tend to run significantly higher temperatures than GEN 3 SSD's so a heatsink is HIGHLY encouraged. If using an ssd enclosure then make sure it has a thermal pad to distribute heat to the casing.

A review of the drive from 02/22 thanks to Andrepartthree: https://www.techpowerup.com/revie...tb/16.html It mentions the Hynix Gold P31 Gen 3 was 5% faster so it's comparable to high end GEN 3 drives. The review also says the drive has a 5 year warranty. Here's hoping that's still true.

Hard to beat a $30 (after rebate) Gen 4 1TB SSD. The rebate can also be submitted completely online by uploading an image of the receipt and an image of one side of the packaging the ssd comes in.

TIP: An easy way to use up the total balance on "rebate credit cards" is just apply whatever balance it has to prepaying a utility like electricity, car insurance etc..then you can specify the exact amount even if it ends up an odd amount or less that $1.
The last time I got one of these rebate cards, I just bought an Amazon gift card with it and applied it to my Amazon account. You can buy those with an arbitrary value and it will just stay on your Amazon account until you use it.
Man I paid 130$ for a 2tb a year ago msi ..interesting times indeed I felt so crap but such os life

problem with this deal is the MIR. i ordered two of these for $25 each a couple of weeks back without having to do MIR. this one just lasts way longer due to the MIR.

Genuinely curious, where is this stated? And where would their online portal be for uploading these materials?

Thanks

EDIT: I figured this out once following the link in the MIR form. Thanks for the heads up on it though, much better than dealing with the usual MIR process.

If you click the rebate link it takes you to a pdf that tells you how to do the submission..when you actually go to fill it out it gives you options for mail in or online process and description explains uploading the images. I doubt I would have purchased it if it had not been an online process.

Is there anyway we can make this as a external hard driver? Like M2 to usb adapter or something?

Yup. Just need to get an m.2 enclosure with a USB port and put the m.2 inside it. Then you can plug it into a computer via USB.

Lemorele M.2 NVMe SSD Enclosure Tool Free USB C External PCIe B+M/M-Key Hard Drive Enclosure 10Gbps USB 3.1 Gen 2 M.2 Reader Support Max 2TB w/UASP Trim, for 2230/2242 /2260/2280 SSDs, Aluminum https://a.co/d/7mli55P

Something like this. Note I'm not recommending this one per se, I just linked ya the first one on Amazon after a search for what you need. I don't know this brand and I encourage you to look at reviews before you buy one.
