The Ryobi PCL265 is probably the best bang for your buck in impact wrenches. I bought it with free tool deal, so the impact wrench, 4ah battery and charger was like $50 out of pocket. https://slickdeals.net/f/16562770-ryobi-one-18v-cordless-1-2-impact-wrench-kit-choice-of-one-ryobi-power-tool-99-free-s-h?src=SiteSearch

The P265 has max breakaway torque of 350 ft /lbs.

The Ryobi P261 is an old model and it's torque is closer to 200 ft/lbs in reality. This Kobalt is 200ish also.
You can see all the torque numbers in a chart at the 9:30 mark in this video from the Torque Test Channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_JcATMLjRpY&t=2s

Here's a video of this $59 Kobalt KCW- 5024 being tested. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O...yPQ&t=207s

I bought the P261 like 10 years ago. It was fine for what it is . Impact wrenches have just gotten a lot better since then.

I returned this yesterday, after having it for two weeks. Was barely able to take lug nuts off, but I had hopes. Yesterday, it couldn't take off a bolt that holds a caliper on. Bought a ryobi P261 for $91. The Kobalt only had 150 lbs of torque. Not useful for much. The Ryobi has 300 lbs of torque. Enough for most diy jobs.

YMMV seeing $99 here in DFW except for the 3/8 impact.

I use mine mostly for tires and have no problems but I also hand torque my tires between 90-100 ft-lbs (bendy bar torque wrench).

Kobalt was a great value when the Xtrs first came out but price creep and lack of good sales and parts make these not as good as something like Ryobi

I wonder if it is being clearanced out. Kobalt's newer impacts are quite good, so this does stand out as needing a "next gen" replacement. For $59, it might suit some people's needs. That small circular saw takes the same blades as Dremel Ultra saw, so could be useful in some situations.

I have the P261. It's 1/2". It only removes lugs on high setting. You sound like you are comparing 1/2" with 3/8". A 3/8" is not going to take lugs off.

If you already have the battery(ies) this is a no brainer. I use mine probably a dozen times per year and have had no issues since purchase. I could spend $250 on the dewalt, but this pops the nuts off my lawnmower blades just the same

Not sure if the description is a mistake, but Lowes only lists it having 150 ft/lbs? In comparison, the M18 Milwaukee has up to 1400 ft/lbs. If you return free the battery, it's $177. It's still 3x more than Kobalt, but much more useful.

Both of the impacts in the OP, 1/2" and 3/8" are 150 ft lbs. So no difference in power between the two assuming the listed specs are accurate.

Edit: As member Slikku later mentioned, the listed specs on the 1/2" are incorrect based on the review photos of the box. The 1/2" is indeed 200 ft lbs as opposed to 150 ft lbs on the 3/8" model.

Thanks. I probably would have purchased the P265, but I had the car jacked up in the driveway and was short on time!

Lowes has multiple 24V 1/2" impacts. This one has 1200ftlb of loosening torque and I've had zero issues with lug nuts.

Reviews on Lowes' site shows pics of the box of the 1/2", and it says 200 ft lbs.

There's also a note "Ends Oct 18", so probably no need to panic-buy to get this price.
