Linux desktop is great to do just futz around great apps and I like using Edge there! I have a 128gb SD card setup to boot to windows 11 without a hitch for work. Once you have the bootloader boot to the SD card it keeps on booting to SD until you remove the SD card, or just tell it to stop again in bootloader. So it just decides it is a windows device until you tell it to stop. Windows 11 runs flawlessly now, but I really do prefer the SteamOS. I can't believe how put together it is. So game centric! It is crazy Valve did this.
Just crazy. I can get Forza 5 running in Deck mode no problem at 56-60fps nice and smooth. Just love it. You have to get Forza 5 seasonal cars in a week and when you are on vacation you can still get them after the day is done. Diablo 4 runs smoothly at 40fps high settings. You can usually figure out the right settings to make anything look great on that smaller screen.
I have a 16 core 3070 with 4k and would rather run on deck at 720p all day.

Original News:
Steam Deck 2 release date speculation
Our best estimate on the Steam Deck 2 release date is 2025, as Valve designer Lawrence Yang recently said "a true next-gen Deck with a significant bump in horsepower wouldn't be for a few years." That said, we may see a refresh of the original Steam Deck featuring improved battery life and a better display in the interim.

Heck, someone could unknowingly sell something that did not work but the next buyer trusts GameStop to do their due diligence regardless of intent. Good intent isn't going to make the broken console work any better.
I did once sell a red ring of death Xbox 360 to Target on one of their old trade in programs though. The terms very clearly said "has to power on and come with AC adapter" (I don't believe it even mentioned a controller) I even warned the employee who called their manager which double checked the verbiage behind me and agreed with my assessment of the terms.

But I'd be a little hesitant about GameStop's "refurbishing" of a device that most of their staff has never seen before. Their refurb process on standard consoles is purportedly powering it on and making sure it comes with all the cables. I cannot imagine them handling a literal computer any more thoroughly than that. Luckily the Steam Deck's have not been notorious for certain failures (like the Switch) so there is less cause for concern with specific issues. Also Valve is a LOT easier to work with as opposed to Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo. They even have OEM replacement parts for sale AND have videos showing you how to replace them.
But if you can wait...might be better to buy a new Deck the next time Valve has a big sale (which seems to happen 3-4 times per year).
I know you can install Epic onto Steam Deck, just not sure about the user experience.
And while I am NOT excusing selling misrepresented condition system, GameStop most certainly has it in their fat fat fat profit margin to account and anticipate for expected warranties and duds. Not like they are only making 5%. No excuse to steal from GameStop but they are not new to the used system market either. They will have built in a 'buffer' to account for stuff exactly like this.
