The 'F' means this has no integrated graphics core, meaning a GPU is not optional.

I would think that makes this a poor choice for video editing/graphics. That said, you could always buy discrete graphics.

I'm looking for lower power consumption though, disqualifying this due to lack of integrated graphics.
Does undervolting and underclocking achieve low power consumption?

Gotcha. Pretty nice performance stuff for $340ish. Would be looking at $250 plus for this CPU and say b660 board less than a hundred. Really comes down to budget and needs as usual.

How much better is an i7 12700k compared to this for photoshop and video editing?

You won't notice too much difference when editing, except for video editing with extremely high resolution files might hurt a bit, but at that rate, you'd probably have enough money for a 12900K. Rendering/exporting will take a hit though

Thanks. I wasn't even thinking about making a new build until I missed out pulling the trigger on the z690 + 12700k for $260 laugh out loud Then kept thinking about how long it takes to render vids and make gifs on my current 10yr old pc. Probably will wait and hope that i7 gets another bundle like that, or wait for i5 13600k sales when the 14th gen comes out.

125W TDP if that matters to you. I love the price on this but I really am aiming for a 65W TDP processor.

Honestly was just looking at the 13600K today, absolute beast of a processor, was going to get a 12700K bundle but I think the performance boost of the 13600k is worth.

too bad, the motherboard being sold at woot a while ago has been sold out. that would be a good deal for me who has tight budget for upgrades.

i have the same thought, but man these deals keep popping up with awesome prices on the 12th gen that makes it hard to resist. the 12700k is on par with the 13600k for gaming and currently for $220, while the 13600k had hit $250 at one point over at MC. we would have to wait another year for the 13600k to hit these prices on 12th gen.

I have the 7600x and it is great for gaming. Paired with a 4070ti. Slightly faster than the 12600k but slower than the 13600k (barely).

AMD cpu temps seem to jump around. I usually idle in the 30s and high 50s while gaming. My case does not help as I have a nzxt h510 elite.

Just a FYI, I had to downgrade from a 13600K to a 12400 in my ITX case. Even with undervolting, a good AIO and good paste, I couldn't get it cool enough. I mean, it ran stable, but it's not much fun with fans at 100% and without the ability to boost. I was worried about worse gaming and application performance by shiting to a lower TDP chip and losing the e-cores, but I see no difference. So - if you've got an ATX case and a dual-tower fan or 280mm AIO, this is a great price. But you really have to consider cooling, thermals, and acoustics if you're building in anything smaller.

The 7600/X will smoke this in gaming and MT is comparable.
