The wife confirms you are correct.. she works as an x-ray/CT/MRI technician, and many are getting to the point that they simply can not scan due to weight limits of tables or the fact they won't fit through the machines. ... however, she works in Denver, which used to be a very fit population (due to all the outdoor activities) , not so much now as it once was.

Jokes of course. Lot of fat Americans that tip the scale beyond anything you'll see anywhere else for sure. We also have some of the fittest, most athletic human beings the planet has ever seen on the other extreme. We are indeed a country of great diversity and body size and physical fitness is definitely one of those things.
Since I'm so OT here above, I'll contribute to the actual deal- If you plan on spending any time on the beach, you can get much better chairs for $30-50 each.
Bought two and these are not great. They have a protruding bar at the top which stupidly doesn't curve backwards, thus sticking into your neck. Might be fixable with a pool noodle wrapped around it.
Yes, it folds. I own the chair. It is lightweight but VERY low to the ground and flimsy. There's not a lot of tension on the bottom fabric so your butt sinks and hits the ground below you. I'm 140lbs and am almost too big for it. It is very low quality and in my opinion is barely worth $10.
Unless you are over 6'3" tall (the 97.4th percentile of adult USA male height, meaning only 1 in 38 men are taller, a very small percent), a weight of 200 lbs or above is considered Overweight (or Obese if markedly higher).
If you are 5'8.5" (not far off the Average adult male height of 5'9.3") or shorter, a weight of 200+ lbs now puts you squarely in the Obese category.
Yes there are other factors involved in assessing weight than just BMI, such as percent muscle mass, but in general, let's face it: most 200+ pounders in the USA are more the fat type and not the "muscle mass" athlete type like an NFL linebacker or The Rock.
So if you're shorter than 6'3" (which again, at 37 out of 38 adult men, most likely anyone statistically reading this is), and you're over 200 lbs, then barring actually muscular and athletic people, yeah, you most likely have a weight problem.
The whole macho "Real men weigh a lot!" mindset, is a huge reason why such a vast percentage of Americans have complete free-for-alls when it comes to eating, not watching our dietary intake, and very low exercise. And this doesn't just include American men, but American women too.

If you take the midpoint between the average male and female weights and consider that the median, then this will be fine for most non-Tongans.
