I never understand why people post these comments about boycotting Amazon as if it actually makes a difference. Prime is a no-brainer for me, it is the largest and most convenient online marketplace by far, excellent customer service where they basically throw money at you everytime something goes wrong, and so many ways to save money, whether through no rush shipping credits, S&S, or just random coupons that show up. If you choose to boycott, its your loss

I recently noticed that the Subscribe & Save "rules" seems to have changed (no notice, of course): Now, when I add "Subscriptions", the first order is at normal price (as far as I can tell). Nothing I needed was urgent, so I just went with having 10 small orders of various items delivered on a single day (environmental reasons, mainly). However, none of the "subscriptions" or related discounts show up anywhere. For this item, I saw a 5% discount, but it should be 15% (or whatever their current value is for 5+ items).

I have canceled Subscribe & Save items dozens of times after the first shipment in the past (I can't stand the random pricing, and don't want to order things I don't need), so I wonder that has anything to do with it.

Any info on this would be appreciated; I don't have the patience to try to work with Amazon to figure this out.
You have to keep a very close eye on the delivery date. If it doesn't match your s&s date, you get the lowest % off for that item.

You seem like someone who is very difficult to please. I also have no idea what you think "writing to customer service" about this change is going to accomplish. It was quietly rolled out in March, nothing you say or do is going to make you an exception to the rule, and slight increases in price happen all the time for memberships and subscription services. The excellent customer service I was referring to is basically a guarantee that if something happens to your order, you will most likely get a refund/replacement with no questions asked as opposed to jumping through hoops when unexpected things happen. If your interpretation of customer service means "let me argue with you about why a certain change was rolled out 5 months ago and I wasn't informed blah blah blah" I doubt you will be receiving excellent customer service, nor are you entitled to
I DID hear back from Customer Service pretty quickly too so kudos to them. They said it was a mistake to charge me for shipping and nothing has changed from the $25 order requirement for free shipping. He did say there may be some exceptions that might not count towards the $25 threshold, but when I mentioned the items in my order the rep said I should have had free shipping on my $27 order and offered to process it for me. So, I have to ask where did you find this change that was so quietly rolled out in March that apparently you are the only one who knows anything about? Anyway, consider that a rhetorical question and it serves no purpose to argue.

I do agree with you that Amazon is generally very good when it comes to accepting refund requests and processing them without question. I've never had a bad experience with customer service, so it is funny you seem to think I have a problem with them. FWIW the reason I canceled my membership had more to do with an increase in damaged items received (particularly S&S items which were poorly packed), changes to the Prime music program and Amazon for some reason never explained to me why they deleted my material in Amazon Photos and Amazon Drive. The increase in the fee was contributory, but not a main factor. Finally, it's hard to compare Amazon with Walmart, but when it comes to deliveries (timely and in perfect condition) I have found Walmart to be head and shoulders above Amazon. I still get small S&S monthly shipments, and occasionally purchase sale items, mostly those that are posted here on Slickdeals. Boycotting them never entered my mind but I don't think I will be a Prime member again.

Maybe someone can help me. My dad is on florajen acidophilus which is in the $20 range. How does that compare to this? I know NOTHING about this type stuff. I was just wondering if maybe I can save him some money

Place an order of at least $35 to get free shipping and then go into the order and cancel the other items you don't want.
I've often thought about trying that, but assumed it would either cancel the remaining item(s) or charge shipping.

I've never had good luck with probiotics but recently have been taking the one below. This one works for me. Keeps me from getting bloated.

NOW Supplements, Probiotic-10 Powder, 50 Billion, with 10 Probiotic Strains, Strain Verified

Most such brands advertise 10 to 50 billion cfu per capsule with multiple strains. This mentions 1 billion live cultures from 1 strain. From a billion live cultures to $ ratio, this is not a shocking deal. Secondly, the effectiveness of taking single strain 1 billion 3x a day 30 mins before meals as prescribed on it might not be the most effective for the needs for which it is being taken.

Hope it helps.

I never understand why people hypocritically reply with opposing opinions that serve the same purpose as that which is criticized and in this case also demonstrate a lack of reading comprehension. Amazon Prime isn't a slick deal for everyone, but it's great that it is for you.

I had cancelled Prime in the past after realizing most of my purchases were S&S but we are members again. Mainly because I care for my mother and she enjoys the free video and music options. Also, the membership is half price since she qualifies for state aid.
But you are correct in feeling their service has degraded over time. I too have the issues with poorly packed orders, especially S&S. This last month was the first in several months that did not have something damaged and refunded. It did have two shipments that showed up two days late. It is funny that I pay for two day shipping and nearly half my orders show up late. I could blame the carriers, they are a mess in Philly, but somehow almost all orders from Walmart or Target show up in two days even though they are not charging for it or guaranteeing it. I wonder if UPS and USPS are not Amazon fans.
If you can click through the website to correct a problem, it is usually easy. If you have to call them though, it is a pain. The last few calls I made took over an hour and I had difficulty finding someone who even understood the problem. Also have had problems when returns were supposed to be picked up and I ended up having to walk them to a UPS store a couple miles away. The last one was a carpet shampooer that was bought new but quite obviously was shipped to us used. The solution was opened, everything was wet and the box was not closed completely(was assembled when repacked and should not have been) but taped shut. That was fun walking twenty or so blocks on my shoulder when it is 95 degrees.

So, yeah, you can get some great deals on Amazon still. But like most things these days, they are not what they used to be.

My apologies for ranting. I must be in a mood.

I assume your dad is looking for a well-rounded probiotic. This one is quite weak and contains only one strain. There are plenty of probiotics on Amazon that are 18 or more strains, and offer 120 billion live organisms vs. this one with 1 billion of 1 strain only.

By default it will set the delivery date for right away, there is a link that says "change" next to the delivery date. If you click that you can switch it to your next planned S&S delivery date to get the 15% discount.

Looks like I need minimum purchase of $35 to get free shipping.. Does it mean my account is flagged or something? This started last week (or at least came to my attention last week)...
I don't know why you would say your account is flagged only to be punished with mere 10 dollar hit. It is 35 for me also, just noticed it few days ago for the first time after a number of years (it had changed to 35 after 25 threshold a while ago). I suspect you are already doing some fraudulent or false return credits, that's why you suspect you are flagged..lol?

The CS is probably wrong about this being a mistake. I discovered the 35 minimum change on my account too, just few days ago, and it's still 35 threshold today. Nor I had ever seen 25 minmum for some and 35 minimum for other items. I have ordered a variety of different items and it was always 25 minimum. Sometimes, they themselves don't know about it. Regardless, I hope it is a glitch or a mistake because I am not liking it.

Because a few of the other folks reported $25 for free shipping. A was a prime member before and dropped off some time back, so potentially flag accounts and lure people into joining prime again?

If you are trying to live up to your dp name, then your comment makes sense.
