So if you use your Starbucks card to pay, then you will need to spend $50 to earn 100 stars, but only if you were doing this without doing any of their offers and earning bonus stars along the way.
You could probably easily push it up over $10 with a quintuple shot, but I'm scared to try that many in a single drink.

Yep. Starbucks recently devalued their rewards by 50%, and they had already devalued them not long before that. In 2022 if you had $1 in Rewards, that same dollar became $0.50 overnight.
Since I can make my own coffee and espresso at home I only visited Starbucks to play rewards, now the rewards aren't even worth keeping track of and just buy when I'm traveling. Had accumulated $125 in gift cards and can't get rid of them quick enough. I prefer the vibe and drinks at Peet's anyway, as far as chains go.
