This is a very wrong take. I recommend you watch monitor unboxed latest review. OLED don't suffer from response time which is why gsync has no advantage here.

After the latest firmware update (something you can't do on the gsync one), there is no reason to buy the gsync version over this. I have this monitor and a 3080 ti. It's an amazing monitor I have no complaints.

https://youtu.be/jTvqGFBPIw4

many websites put the dwf way ahead of the gsync version

Just got this monitor a few weeks ago.
Looks great! But when I first set it up the colors felt a little oversaturated (granted I never used an OLED before)
The pixel shift is noticeable to me but nothing killer.
However, the pixel refresh is annoying. I use it as my work monitor and am at it at least 8hrs a day, which means it will need to refresh twice -- once being right in the middle of my workday when I am busy well, working. If I cancel the refresh, it won't run by itself as I never put my PC in standby mode.

I did set up a screensaver to run a blank black screen, if I step away for more than 5 mins. Chances are, if I don't come back within 5, I won't come back for a while. Makes sense to have my screen cleared just in case.
!Hodl! $700

I was torn between the dw and dwf last month when I bought. I ended up going with DW for one main reason- the DWF maxes out at 100 fps with 10 bit color while the DW hits 144 (per rtings https://www.rtings.com/monitor/to...shold=0.10).

That's a pretty strong trade-off. The DW also gets brighter in HDMI and has a slightly higher max refresh rate.

The DWF is definitely better for console gaming and the upgradable firmware and fan improvement is enticing. I certainly wouldnt pay $200 more for the DW, but I did pay $60 more.

I can hear the fan in a quiet room after a long session of gaming on my DW, but it's much less than the sound of my PC and is not bothersome to me.

Quote from NickH5663 :
The latest firmware fixed nothing. Where has the input lag been tested and confirmed fixed? The HDR1000 works properly out of the box on the DW, while the DWF is only really accurate at HDR400. Switch between 400 and 1000. If the screen gets brighter with 1000 enabled then you're seeing why it's broken.

Further, the exceeding amount of reports of DWF coil whine, the inability to Windows to natively detect the DWF's HDR 1000 firmware (because Dell won't admit this can't be fixed without the G-Sync module).

That shit was fixed with the latest firmware. I have this monitor and it's silent. Do you have one you can listen for coil whine? I didn't think so.

Just got this yesterday coming from a 4k 144hz Gigabyte M28U and it's a mighty upgrade. The colors are drastically better, and the contrast ratio is pretty insane. I'm used to a high pixel density display and from my viewing distance this monitor seems just as crisp. This is my first ultrawide and wasn't sure I would like it but gaming on this thing is so good.

The biggest upgrade though is with the pixel response which is damn near as good as a CRT. I'm now totally sold on Oled for gaming and won't be going back. Also, I'm happy about the Glossy screen which makes everything super crisp.

Lol, you know OLEDs are literally less sharp for text work because of the subpixel layout, right?

Was able to use a Military discount code from Dell that I had not used. Was able to bring down the price by another $90.

Paired with the Amex "spend 599 or more, get $120 back."

Just got it setup today. Beautiful panel. Resident Evil Village looks fantastic with the ultra wide view. I can't tell significant difference with the text clarity. Looks fine to me.

I've had this monitor for about a month now. First of all, I didn't buy from Dell. I went to a local Best Buy and got it there. If there's anything wrong with the pixels, or if there is burn in, I'd rather deal with Best Buy than Dell.

Also purchased the extended four-year warranty from Best Buy, as it does cover burn in and I don't want to worry that much about it. It was $150. If you pricematch, it's really only $50, we'll worth the piece of mind, in my opinion.

Compared to the G-Sync one (which I returned) I couldn't tell the difference with just 10 extra FPS. This does have FreeSync, which works well.

I got used to the weird text display quickly. I also use it for work. Sometimes I feel like it's too bright. Personally really recommend it, just not from Dell.

I am the guy you were responding to. You still never explained how pointing out that OLEDs don't do anything beneficial for non-color work means someone has bad eyesight. They're (significantly) more expensive, have burn in, and are less sharp for text than an IPS.

So tell me, what's the benefit of using an OLED over IPS if it's just for work?

I guess first I'd say that Alienware doesn't make hardware "just for work", seems like a mismatch if that's what someone is looking for
2nd, "just for color work" implies that one can't see how dramatic a difference in the viewing experience is ( granted, w/ the exception of crispness of small text on some OLED panels [ I had a 13" OLED Alienware a handful of years ago and text clarity was great ), and is unable to appreciate how luxurious the experience is for imo, pretty much all other use cases

Here's how a quick GPT put it:
Gaming: Improved response times and synchronization support for smoother gameplay.
Movie and Video Watching: Superior HDR, contrast, and black levels for an immersive experience.
Graphic Design and Video Editing: High color accuracy and wide gamut for precise visual work.
3D Modeling and Animation: Accurate color and contrast enhancing visual representation.
VR and AR Development: Fast response and crisp display for immersive and responsive development.
Collaborative Work: Wide viewing angles allowing for consistent visuals from different angles.
Medical Imaging: Potential suitability for specialized imaging with color precision.
Financial Trading: Clarity for data visualization in real-time trading environments.
Photography Editing: Enhanced color control for professional photo retouching.
Digital Art Creation: Precision in color rendering for digital artists.
Scientific Visualization: Suitable for rendering complex scientific data and simulations.
OLED's unique characteristics can make it suitable or superior for these computing scenarios compared to traditional IPS panels
