- Fingerprint magnet, but sturdy construction
- Gets a bit hot and fan can get audible during stuff like games (I use an eGPU), but expected for an i7-13700h chip
- For my general use case the battery lasts ~6 hours watching a lot of videos at 80% brightness
- Commonly used ports like the charger and headphone jack are on the right hand side
- RAM is soldered, storage is replaceable

With all that being said and mostly known going into purchasing this on last sale - I think this laptop is excellent at this price point. The screen alone should be a huge factor as it is such an incredibly nice panel to watch media on on top of its <1ms response and 120hz refresh that should auto switches to 60hz on battery. Keyboard feels great and touch screen is pretty good to use with a stylus pen when the screen can open at the 180 degree mark so the whole laptop goes flat. Integrated graphics works decent for old or lightweight games. You get a hella strong CPU at this range as well. All in all I recommend finding a store that has it on display as the web page will tell you where in your area and you got the 14 day return window, too.

I bought this laptop on the previous open box deal and here is my experience with it:

A) It has a slight grainy look due to the digitizer (touch) layer that is noticeable if you look for it on white and gray backgrounds. Normal use you probably wouldn't notice it.
B) Runs warm since it's a 13700h..
C) Battery life is around 6-10 hours depending on use maybe less.
D) Cinebench r23 multi 10min is around 11-13k plugged in.
E) Both USB-C ports are thunderbolt and can charge the computer.
F) League of Legends got around 110-130fps (set in game to 1080p I believe), and of course expect the fans to get loud though.

It's all around a GREAT laptop, but I'm on the fence about returning it due to the grainy effect alone. It's a known issue with OLED touch screens for Asus (at least that i know of).

I had tried the previous gen 1240p Zenbook 14x OLED non-touch and can confirm that it did not have the grainy look.

Most people don't seem to notice or have an issue with it otherwise it'd be mentioned more. However, it might also explain the amount of open boxes there were.

EDIT: Just want to add that this review of the 14x "Space Edition" mentions the graininess of the screen due to the digitizer:

EDIT#2 8/21/23: Regarding Warranty

After talking with two Best Buy reps on the phone and one ASUS rep here's what they told me:

A)
Best Buy by default gives a 1 year warranty to all open box items which covers everything the manufacturer warranty does.
If it does have an active manufacturer warranty, you'll have to go through the manufacturer first and if it "times" out first then Best Buy will cover it until the 1 year period.

Best buy reps then confirmed that they saw my open box Zenbook in the system being covered for 1 year by Best Buy.

B)
ASUS USA rep confirmed with me that any open-box ASUS laptop purchased from Best Buy only will have only a 90 day warranty from ASUS regardless of what date the MyAsus App tells you.

I would encourage anyone who's worried to double check their Best Buy warranty status with a CS agent and get a reference# or Case ID# in the event something happens.

I believe it is related to a feature in my Asus app called Pixel Shift.

I try to to avoid OLED since there is a lot of protection and dos and don'ts with it. And the linux compatibility is affected as well since no driver to drive the OLED correctly
I don't believe the graininess is related to pixel shift. After using the OLED non-touch version and it not having graininess pretty much confirms it.

Also this review of the 14x "Space Edition" also mentions it's the digitizer.

I have the 12700H version of this. Superb computer!! this price is a steal!
I purchased the Vivobook i7-12700h version from Costco. I almost purchased this zenbook from BB, but cancelled the order. I like that the ram is upgradeable on the 12700h version that I have. Also, the screen is 600 nits vs 550 and fingerprint reader. I don't care about the touchscreen.

Agree that this really flies. I came from an HP Spectre 13 with 8th gen i7 (u verison). Combination of newer CPU and h processor with more cores is great. Love the Oled screen.

I see an open box for $607. I remember that some were as low as $550-560 last time. Think $607 is worthwhile for an open box model or just avoid the hassle and get a new model for $699.99?

I bought this last time it was on sale and it whipes the floor with my 8th gen i7 laptop I was using before. Fit and finish seem great and the battery life is decent (getting about 5 hrs with mixed usage and 60hz screen).

That was a price error and I don't recall any orders going through. I posted the deal and BB took it down from their site just after a few minutes.

Also, check your facts before making false statements. Like I said earlier on another comment, this has been $699 just once before. Doesn't make it "a couple of times".
Last I checked, two is a couple.

I got one of the open box excellent the last rodeo at $528, and very happy with it, but at the current price difference I would just buy new. Mine had like 60 hrs of use but not a mark on it, and is fine with all benchmarks and perfect screen, but warranty service should be better with new if you need it. I registered on the Asus website and it gave me a full year, but not sure if they're fussy about if I tried to submit a claim as open box, may just give 90 days as others have noted.

I don't own this, but I've played with the 8gb model at Best buy. I really like the touchpad that has the numpad integrated into it. It would be awesome if other manufacturers added that feature and removed the numpad from the keyboard deck, while centering the keyboard and making room for top firing (high quality) speakers.

How big of an issue is the screen door effect a couple people mentioned? It seems that most reviews are excellent

You'd have to be pretty close to the screen to notice it, the display unit at BB from a normal distance is not noticeable at all.

I will never understand glossy touch screens on laptops. Makes them unusable outside or anywhere there's glare, so you have to blast the brightness to see anything which kills the battery. Touch takes more battery too. Operating systems aren't designed for touch inputs. Just buy a tablet that's built from the ground up to be a touch only device.

I have a few year old Lenovo ultrabook with a glossy screen despite being advertised as having a matte screen. I almost returned it but got a screen protector which made it matte and looks great now.

I would recommend if you buy this new to look into getting the $50 membership first. That way you have 60 days to price match this and with the way they have been slinging this thing on sale every other week we could easily see $650 again if not lower. If it indeed goes to $650 in the next two months then you can price adjust and basically get the membership free or even make money if it goes lower. If it doesn't go cheaper then according to their terms the membership is refundable for 60 days if you haven't used it's benefits by then. Something to look into but do your own research and remember this doesn't apply to open box cause those are not eligible for price matches/adjustments according to their terms and most customer service reps.
