Looks like it has been this price for some time, but its a good price for what it is. I pieced one together years ago for my compressor and it was definitely more expensive. If you have a compressor with the old style drain where you have to reach under the tank to drain it, and therefore don't drain it much or often, I would highly recommend something like this. It is easy to drain, and if you see it, it will hopefully remind you to drain it.

Description of item says 300 psi, but several reviews report that it's only rated for 175 psi. Some reviews even said 150 psi max. One review had a photo of package showing its only rated for 175 psi. Double check your compressor's psi rating before purchasing.

I paid the $14 for this back in 2019, and it's gotten a few uses a month since then, wish I had gotten it sooner.
Also recommend adding a 1/4" Air Line Plastic Exhaust Air Silencer.
I added this one back then, but looks like it's no longer available: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...UTF8&psc=1

It's far from silent, but it takes that ear splitting shriek down to something I don't have to step out of the garage for.

Thank you, unsarcastically, for something I wasn't looking for and didn't know existed.

Good price. These are all over AmZ for $10-$14. If you have an air compressor, this is a must have to save the tank from corrosion. Once a week, Open for a second to drain the moisture. It also serves as a small reservoir for water so it's not rotting the tank.

I made one of these from parts. Cost more. Bought one of these for another compressor.

I didn't realize how much water actually condensed until I put one of these ball valves on the bottom to drain it out. Holy cow!

This makes it so easy to drain the tank. Even for 15 bucks it is nice.

I added this to my tank but still requires you to use it ๐Ÿ˜† anyone able to make a system that has a temp sensor on the tank and a tiny computer that senses a temp rise on the tank, waits for it to cool, then opens the valve for a couple seconds?

This is what I am looking for.

Does anyone have information on this topic?

Is there a inexpensive solution to automate this task?

Time to learn about arduino.

Thanks for posting this, I did the exact same mod a few years ago and HIGHLY recommend it, it makes draining the tank much more tolerable

Another option would be a CT clamp on the compressor motor to sense when it runs, and triggers a tank purge after you turn off the garage lights.

The cheapest option is just adding a NC 1/4" solenoid. If you get one with a 120V coil, you can even actuate it with a standard smart plug/relay.

Alternatively, there are several kits that include a timer actuated solenoid, like this [amazon.com] for example.
