I was planning to give the phone away but I guess they just saved me $70 that I probably shouldn't have spent anyway.

GSMArena has reviews on both phones and one explicitly says gorilla glass 5 and the other just says glass front.
PC Mag review of the A14 says:
"Samsung doesn't say what type of glass covers the display; the company would likely market it if the screen were protected by Gorilla Glass, so we suspect that isn't the case."

This seems like a fairly exhaustive list of Samsung phones with Gorilla Glass from the maker of Gorilla Glass - the A14 is not among them (please advise if you see otherwise)

And Android Police probably just made an incorrect assumption. I'd trust GSMArena to know what they're talking about, and like PC Mag said, if Samsung doesn't explicitly say Gorilla Glass it's probably because it's not.

We are on T-mobile's family plan (total 6 members). For our older daughter, we had used this deal with the Moto G7 and unlocked that phone and it works when we transferred her line to my T-mobile account.But that was prior to Tracfone getting acquired by Verizon.
I would like to use this deal for my younger one and wondering the same as whether - once this phone is unlocked - we can use it on T-mobile?
Any feedback would be appreciated.
