Just buy from local roasters and try to use within a month of the roast date. Coffee is a volatile aromatic and will stale

Stumptown used to be great before they were sold off--I still think the single origins are solid, but Amazon will never give a roast date so it's impossible to gauge how fresh they are.

Strongly recommend SO from Happy Mug--really well priced and the coffee is great.

Wouldn't buy on Amazon most of these bags are almost close to expire. If you buy directly on stumptown.com it's fresh beans made that week and new users gets 30%off subscribe and save (you can cancel after first delivery) and more flavor options to choose from

I had exactly the same experience earlier this summer. Looks like they use Amazon to liquidae expiring stocks at a discount.

Interesting. I just had one delivered on 8/17 that was roasted on 7/18. It was cheaper and twice as fresh as the one my wife bought last week from WFM that was roasted on 6/9.

For beans at this price, do not buy unless it tells you when it's roasted.
